Spy photos of the next-gen 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC have appeared on many popular websites. This prototype has been spied testing for the first time and we should expect plenty of improvements over the previous gen. At first glance, the proportion of the upcoming model is slightly bigger and the same treatment has also been used on the recently launched GLB.

Nevertheless, the new GLC is a little smaller compared to the GLB model and it sits in the SUV segment where are models like Audi Q5 and BMW X3. Besides, the new GLC will ride on an updated version of Mercedes’ MHA (Modular High Architecture) platform that underpins the current model.

Like before, we expect the same Mercedes traditional design. The upcoming 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC will be slightly bigger and it will ride on the updated version of Mercedes’ MHA (Modular High Architecture) platform. In addition, this platform will bring significant weight savings because of the use of aluminum over steel.

At first glance, the hood of GLC appears to have been stretched and the manufacturer also lowered roofline. However, due to the use of heavy camo, most of the body parts are not visible. The rear haunches also appear to be more pronounced resulting in, sleeker and sportier look compared to the current model.

Cabin Will Continue to Be Luxury

The next-gen 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC will be bigger and that’s mean more interior space. Mercedes Company is famous for making good quality cabins and durable materials. The competition is already intense and GLC still sits in the small SUV segment where are models like Audi Q5 and BMW X3.

For a start, we heard that the next-gen model would provide more luxury than the other SUVs in the same segment. The manufacturer might use new innovative technology, comfort on a high level, plenty of safety features, and driver-assist packages.

As we mentioned, beneath the skin of the new-generation 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC is an updated MHA (Modular High Architecture) architecture. This platform is albeit a version designed specifically for high-riding models. Interestingly, the same platform also underpinning current models and upcoming C-Class.

The base model will definitively use a well known 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4. However, we are still waiting for more details from Mercedes about numbers. The next possibility is a 3.0-liter turbo inline-6 replacing the current generation’s V-6. Lately, we heard that GLC variants would feature some form of electrification. This engine will probably power the next Mercedes-AMG GLC63 which could downsize to a 4-cylinder.
