One of the most eye-catching crossover SUVs on the market is definitely the new 2022 GMC Acadia. This three-row midsize SUV sits between the smaller Terrain and the larger Yukon in the GMC lineup. After a mild refresh last year, we don’t expect a significant change on the next Acadia version.

Like the previous model, the new one is offered as well in a variety of trim levels. Basically, it ranges from the entry one SL to the luxurious and favorite Denali. Depending which trim level you choose, the new SUV offers three engine options.

2022 GMC Acadia Facelift

We expect the new 2022 GMC Acadia to receive minor changes, updates, and improvements. Like the previous model, the new SUV still rides on the same proven GM VSS-F platform. Basically, this platform is available on many other front-drive GM vehicles and crossovers.

The current GMC Acadia has already received many novelties, including a completely new front end. However, for 2022, the Acadia features the same face but different shaped headlights, grille, and bumper. Therefore, the new GMC Acadia will also carry on with its attractive taillights, bumper, and other details on the back.

Interior Upgrades

Inside, the 2022 GMC Acadia will continue with the same modern styling and layout. The cabin is spacious, and you can count on more comfort than before. Indeed, thanks to its 112.5 inches in wheelbase, this crossover features three quite spacious rows of seats. The third row offers around 30 inches of legroom, which is quite enough for adult passengers.

In terms of technology, the base SL includes tri-zone auto climate control, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, keyless ignition, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Wi-Fit hotspot, and five USB ports. More features can be find on upper trims like Denali or AT4. On top of that, the safety package includes automatic emergency braking and front and rear parking aids, plus a blind-spot alert and rear cross-traffic alert.

2022 GMC Acadia Powertrain Specs

Under the hood, the forthcoming 2022 GMC Acadia is available with three engine variants. Standard on the SL and SLE is a very proven 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that develops 194 horsepower and 190 lb-ft of torque. Next up is a mill that is standard on the SLT. This one consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine that pumps out a respectable 230 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque.

The last one and the top offering is a 3.6-liter V6 generating 310-horsepower with 271 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes standard in the AT4, and Denali trims. However, all versions use a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel-drive system, except the base SL. The Acadia’s tow rating remains a meager 1,000 pounds but rises to 1,500 lb with the turbo 2.0 and 4,000 lb with the V6.

Release Date and Price

As one of the most compact SUVs, the redesigned 2022 GMC Acadia will be available sometime this year to purchase. Besides some small outward changes, the new SUV will offer more amenities this time.

Pricing is not yet announced, but we can expect it to be in the coming weeks. The current entry-level SL starts at less than $30k, while the most expensive Denali costs around $50k.
