Years have passed and we are still getting reports about Audi entering the full-size SUV segment. It looks like something is finally happening and that the Ingolstadt company is preparing this model for the next year’s launch. As you probably know, Audi will soon stop developing ICE cars and this will be one of the last new models to come. From what we know so far, this SUV will come already in the next year, as the 2024 Audi Q9, and it will be the most luxurious and most prestigious SUV in the company’s lineup, with the task to compete with models like BMW X7, Mercedes-Benz GLS.
So far, we can only speculate about the specs, because the officials are still quiet. Still, we know for sure that the new model will share a lot of design and technical solutions with the Q7. It will ride on the same platform and probably borrow some of the powertrain options, while the styling should be adapted to the brand’s latest design language.
2024 Audi Q9 Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the officials are still quiet about the new full-size luxury SUV but some things are quite easy to predict. For example, there is the platform, which will be an upgraded version of the company’s well-known MLB Evo architecture, which already underpins the Q7, as well as models like the Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, Lamborghini Urus etc. In this case, we would see further upgrades, with an even more refined suspension setup than the mid-size Q7.
Of course, there is the matter of size, whereas the new 2024 Audi Q9 is about to feature full-size dimensions, with a wheelbase that goes way over 120 inches. The rest of the measurements should be similar to rivals, while the overall shape should follow the Q7’s example, just in a bigger package.
As for the styling, it’s still early for details, but we presume that the front end will look significantly different compared to the brand’s current design language. Most likely, the new SUV will follow the example of the brand’s new all-electric lineup. We already saw a couple of rendering photos with the such aesthetical approach.
As for interior design, the Ingolstadt company has a reputation for making excellent cabins, with high-quality materials, good build quality and design that successfully combines conservative aesthetics with high-end tech features. We are thinking of something similar to the A8 full-size sedan, which is currently the most luxurious vehicle in the lineup.
Considering the full-size dimensions, there’s no doubt that the 2024 Audi Q9 interior would come standard with three rows of seats. Although the Q7 already comes with three rows of seats, that third row is very tight and can’t accommodate anyone but kids. Also, the cargo area is pretty small, so we presume that the new full-size SUV would bring improvements in both aspects.
2024 Audi Q9 Engines
We presume that the powertrain lineup wouldn’t be significantly different compared to Q7 and Q8 models, though some engines might get a slight power boost. Therefore, base models would probably come with a 3.0-liter turbo V6, which puts out around 335 horsepower.
Of course, higher trim levels would come with eight cylinders. The SQ9 would probably feature a max output of 500 horsepower, while the flagship RS Q9 would be good for about 600 horsepower.
Finally, we believe that the 2024 Audi Q9 could also come in hybrid variants. Audi currently has two powertrains of this type that seem appropriate, both based on V6 engines, with 376 and 450 horsepower.
All engines would come coupled with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.
2024 Audi Q9 Release Date and Price
If we can rely on rumors, the 2024 Audi Q9 could arrive already in the next year. We presume that the starting price could go around 80.000 dollars.
