The release date of the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA is approaching. Unfortunately, like the previous model, the new one will not gain anything revolutionary. In 2020, Mercedes company made some small changes to the GLA-Class, separating it from its platform-mate model, the Infiniti QX30.
Overall, the design is modern, and GLA includes sleek LED headlights, a single-bar grille, large front air vents, large taillights, dual-exhaust headlights, and more. Like the previous version, the new one will most likely keep the same engines. The GLA is offered precisely with three powertrain options.
2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class Redesign
The new-generation 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA looks extremely modern. Interestingly, the upcoming model is around 1 inch wider and 3.6 inches taller than the last-generation model. It boasts a more sporty look thanks to the new sleek LED headlights, a single-bar grille, and large front air vents.
It also features a more stylish back with revised large LED taillights, the new dual exhaust system, and a more robust color body bumper. If we look at all those changes from our side, the new Mercedes-Benz GLA looks to be just one more carryover model. However, some small changes are always welcome, and it’s not unusual that GLA will continue to be more competitive than ever.
More Advanced Technology
Inside, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA-Class boasts the same sharp and sporty design as the outgoing one. The youthful design is present, and GLA offers room for five passengers. Therefore, it includes plenty of soft-touch materials, textured faux carbon fiber, and some of the advanced technology.
Like the current GLA-Class, the new one features eight-way power-adjustable front seats, leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry and ignition, and side-by-side 7.0-inch screens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment display. On top of that, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, natural voice recognition are also standard.
2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA Engine Specs
Under the hood, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA will be offered with three engine options. The base SUV uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that pumps out 221 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Interestingly, its power flows through an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, and it uses the front-wheel-drive system.
Of course, AWD is optional on this model. AMG GLA35 also uses a 2.0-liter engine, but it delivers 302 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque through an AMG-tuned eight-speed dual-clutch transmission. The most powerful version is the AMG GLA45. This model is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder generating 382 hp and 354 lb-ft. It also uses AMG-tuned eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and all-wheel drive as standard.
Release Date and Price
There is no official on-sale date of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLA. Based on previous release dates, the new crossover might arrive in the summer, while sales could start soon after. As for the price, it isn’t available yet.
Hopefully, it should remain close to the current model’s pricing of $37,000 to $48,500. Like before, this compact luxury crossover will compete with models in the same class like the Audi Q3, BMW X1, and Volvo XC40.
