After the updates we’ve seen in the last two years, we are pretty sure that the Swedish carmaker won’t rush with the redesign of its compact crossover. Namely, the 2022 model year brought refreshed styling and a new infotainment system, while the 2023 model brings more features and an upgraded plug-in hybrid powertrain with a better EV range and more power. The 2024 Volvo XC60 should carry on without more important changes and offer familiar design characteristics.

Therefore, you probably know what to expect from the next year’s model. Despite the age, this crossover still has a lot of amazing things to offer, starting from a pretty impressive interior design, capable powertrain options and a very long list of standard and available features. Furthermore, the ride is smooth and comfortable, while the cargo area is surprisingly large for a vehicle with a premium badge.

Since no bigger changes are expected to happen, we presume that the 2024 Volvo XC60 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2023.

2024 Volvo XC60 Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Volvo XC60 is expected to be a typical carryover model. Despite it’s been around since 2017, it still looks pretty fresh, party thanks to the last year’s facelift, which brought a few very subtle changes. The crossover looks very elegant, with smooth lines and a relatively sleek profile. The next year shouldn’t bring any styling changes, though we wouldn’t be surprised to see things like new color options, or even a new appearance package.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle definitely won’t change. This crossover rides on a familiar SPA platform, with a suspension setup that is on the soft side. The ride is smooth and comfortable, while the suspension absorbs road imperfections with ease. On the other hand, the XC60 isn’t the most athletic model on the market, especially when compared to rivals like BMW X3 and Alfa Romeo Stelvio.

Interior

The same thing is with interior design. The recent update brought a new infotainment system, though the screen dimensions remained the same. Nevertheless, the cabin looks very upscale and it is definitely among the nicest-looking in the class. We like the elegant aesthetics, as well as super-fine materials. Plus, the cabin feels pretty airy, which also has a big impact on the overall driving experience.

The front seats are massive and comfortable, also with good side support. Also, the driver’s position is great, no matter the size, thanks to plenty of adjustability options. The second-row seats are also very spacious and accommodate adults with ease. Another strong point of this crossover is the cargo area. It offers around 22.4 cubic feet behind the back row and 63.3 cubic feet in total, which is excellent for a luxury compact SUV.

Features

Novelties in this aspect are always possible, but we are pretty sure that most things are about to remain the same. Namely, the current model already stands very well in this aspect. Base versions come with a 9-inch touch screen, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10-speaker stereo, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, satellite radio, Bluetooth, Google-based navigation, remote keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control and a panoramic moonroof. Among available features, there are quad-zone climate control, a 14-speaker premium audio system etc.

The same is with safety features. Traditionally, the Swedish carmaker is very generous in this aspect, so it’s no wonder that all models come standard with a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, traffic-sign recognition, rain-sensing wipers etc. Among available safety features, you can find a surround-view camera, adaptive cruise control, and head-up display.

2024 Volvo XC60 Engines

We expect the 2024 Volvo XC60 to continue with three familiar powertrain options on offer. Base models, which are now called B5, will continue with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which comes with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and offers a max output of 247 horsepower. That’s plenty enough for decent driving dynamics, while the average fuel economy goes around 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

The B6 features the same turbo-four with a mild-hybrid setup but adds a supercharger. As a result, the max output goes up to 295 horsepower. Besides notably better driving dynamics, this version is also a little bit thirstier. It returns around 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

Finally, there is the T8 Recharge, a plug-in hybrid version, with a combined output of 455 horsepower. The system includes an 18.7 kWh battery pack, which ensures around 35 miles of range in the EV mode.

2024 Volvo XC60 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Volvo XC60 will arrive sometime in the last quarter of 2023, with a starting price of around 45.000 dollars.
