2024 Nissan Maxima specs

The segment of full-size sedans seems almost dead these days. Sales of pretty much every model in the segment almost reached the bottom, so it’s no wonder that most of them will be discontinued soon. The Maxima is one of them for sure. The current generation has been around since 2016 and we already know that there will be no successor. Most likely, the current model will remain on offer for just one more year, which means that the 2024 Nissan Maxima will probably be the final model year of this long-lasting nameplate.

All this means that the next year’s model probably won’t bring any bigger change. Instead, we expect to see a familiar design, which hasn’t changed since 2019, when the current generation was updated. However, the current model still has a lot of great things to offer, starting from a capable V6 engine, upscale interior, straightforward infotainment system etc.

Since no bigger changes are expected, we presume that the 2024 Nissan Maxima will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2023.

2024 Nissan Maxima Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the current model has been around for a while. However, it is still a relatively modern and competitive car, which rides on a familiar D platform. Visually, we haven’t seen any changes since 2019 but this sedan still follows the brand’s contemporary design language. It looks attractive and decently modern, so we have no doubt that the 2024 Nissan Maxima will continue in the same way.

In terms of the chassis and suspension setup, the Maxima offers a smooth and comfortable ride. It is a perfect companion for long journeys, but also a relatively engaging car to drive, thanks to composed handling. Still, the steering could have been better, as it feels a little bit vague.

Interior

As we’ve just mentioned, the Maxima is a perfect companion for long journeys. However, that’s only if back passengers aren’t too tall, considering that the amount of space in the second row seems subpar compared to rivals like Avalon or Charger. The same thing is with the cargo area, which offers around 14.3 cubic feet of trunk space. That’s less than you get from the mid-size Altima, for example. On the other hand, there is nothing to complain about when it comes to the front seats. There, you may count on plenty of space, while Nissan traditionally makes some of the best seats in the class.

2024 Nissan Maxima Interior

The interior quality is pretty good. The materials are really fine, and there is a lot of attention to detail. Furthermore, the infotainment system still feels modern, which also makes the cabin look upscale. It’s worth mentioning that all models come standard with leather upholstery.

Features

Considering that there are no significant changes to come and this is going to be the final production year, we presume that the list of standard and available equipment is about to remain pretty much the same. Therefore, base models should come standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker stereo, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, two USB ports, satellite radio, navigation, voice recognition, a Wi-Fi hot spot, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start and keyless entry. Among options, we expect to see things like an 11-speaker Bose sound system and two rear USB ports, a dual-panel panoramic moonroof and a Virtual Key.

The Maxima is pretty generous with standard safety features. All models come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, traffic-sign recognition, driver-attention monitoring, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, automatic high beams etc. Front parking sensors, surround-view parking camera and lane keep assist are currently available as options.

2024 Nissan Maxima Engine

The 2024 Nissan Maxima will continue with a capable and quite refined 3.5-liter V6 engine, which puts out around 300 horsepower. That’s plenty of power to have great driving dynamics, so it’s no wonder that this large sedan needs less than six seconds to hit sixty. However, the unfortunate thing is that the engine is paired with a CVT, which kills a little bit of driving excitement.

Fuel economy is typical for the class. You may expect around 20 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. However, keep in mind that this engine requires premium fuel.

2024 Nissan Maxima Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2024 Nissan Maxima on sale sometime in the last quarter of 2023, with a starting price of around 40.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like Toyota Avalon, Dodge Charger, Chrysler 300 etc.
