In the world of small crossovers, the Eclipse Cross represents a rational choice. Unlike most competitors, it doesn’t tend to look luxurious, nor particularly fast. Instead, it is practical and affordable. The current generation was introduced with the 2022 model year, so we are pretty sure it’s still early for bigger updates, like a mid-cycle refresh. The overall design of the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will certainly remain the same, but we don’t exclude the possibility to see smaller-scale updates, such as new color options or new standard features.

In any case, the overall design will remain the same, which indicates familiar design characteristics and features. This crossover has a lot of good things to offer, starting from affordable price, good fuel economy and a comfortable cabin. However, it isn’t without flaws. Its cabin already looks outdated, while the powertrain isn’t particularly impressive in terms of driving dynamics. Moreover, the handling could be more engaging.

As no significant changes are about to happen, we presume that the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will represent the third production year of the current generation and therefore, we don’t expect bigger changes. Of course, it’s possible to see minor tweaks like new color options, but the overall design will remain the same. That’s not necessarily an issue, considering that the current model follows the brand’s contemporary design language, characterized by sharp lines, narrow headlights, massive bumpers etc.

The same thing is with mechanics, so you may expect familiar driving experience from the next year’s model. This SUV definitely isn’t an athletic vehicle. There is a lot of body roll but, on the other hand, the ride is smooth and quite comfortable, which makes it a good choice for drivers who aren’t particularly into dynamic ride.

Interior

Once again, we won’t be seeing bigger changes. Therefore, the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will continue with a familiar interior design, which may not be the fanciest in the class. Although a relatively fresh model on the market, the current-generation Eclipse Cross somehow looks outdated from the inside, due to a pretty dull dashboard design and lack of fancy materials. Still, we can’t say that the build quality is bad. Everything seems assembled well, and while materials feel quite durable. If you’re looking for a small SUV with a luxurious interior, models like Mazda CX-5 or Hyundai Tuscon may be the right choice for you.

On the other hand, there is nothing to complain about regarding passenger space and comfort, at least in the front row. The front seats are shaped pretty well and offer a lot of adjustability options. Also, there is plenty of room for taller passengers, so it’s pretty easy to find a perfect driving position.  On the other hand, the second row is generous with legroom but isn’t particularly friendly to taller passengers, due to the sloping roof, which limits headroom. For the same reason, the cargo area is smaller compared to most rivals. You may count on about 23.4 cubic feet of room behind the rear seats and 50.1 cubic feet of the total volume.

Features

The 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sport might come with a few new features but most things will definitely remain the same as in the current model. Therefore, base models will come standard with goodies like automatic climate control, a 7-inch touch screen, a four-speaker stereo, HD Radio, a USB port and Bluetooth. Expect to find things like an 8-inch touch screen, navigation, a six- or eight-speaker audio system, satellite radio, additional USB ports, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control and push-button start in higher trim levels.

When it comes to safety features, base models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, lane-departure warning, pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking etc.

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sport Engine

The 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sport will continue with a single powertrain option, with a familiar inline-four, which features a max output of 152 horsepower. The engine comes paired with a CVT and doesn’t offer particularly good driving dynamics.

On the other hand, the CVT offers pretty good fuel economy, which goes around 25 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway, which is good for an SUV that comes standard with all-wheel drive.

2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sport Release Date and Price

As there are no significant updates to come, we presume that the 2024 Mitsubishi Eclipse Sport will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 26.000 dollars.
