The new 2024 Mazda CX-70 will reportedly hit stores next year in the U.S. As far as we know, the forthcoming model will share the same platform and 6-cylinder powertrain with the upcoming CX-90. For those who may not know, Mazda has confirmed recently that the CX-70 and CX-90 models will be available with a new inline-6 and will come standard with all-wheel drive (AWD).
However, unlike the CX-90 which will offer three rows of seats, the new CX-70 will deliver room for only five passengers. Anyway, it seems that Mazda prioritizes added cargo room behind the split-folding second row. We expect the new SUV to have a starting price of around $35,000.
2024 Mazda CX-70 Design
While official details remain scarce at the time of writing, there are some rumors regarding the new 2024 Mazda CX-70. From the information we got, the CX-70 will sit on the same platform as the forthcoming CX-90. It will also use the same updated KODO design language, which is very familiar.
So, expect the same recognized grille and probably a new shaped headlight. Considering that the CX-70 is an all-new SUV, the manufacturer will probably introduce new taillights as well as more attractive wheels. In terms of size, the upcoming CX-70 should sit between the compact CX-50, and the three-row CX-90 model, which replaces CX-9.
Modern Interior
There is no doubt, that the 2024 Mazda CX-70 will be spacious and very modern inside. As we said, the new SUV will share its platform with the bigger CX-90, which means there should be a lot of rooms. However, the CX-90 is announced that it will come with three rows of seats, while CX-70 with only two. This means we can expect enough room for up to five passengers and probably more cargo capacity than on the CX-90.
We think that a new 10.3-inch infotainment screen will be introduced, which is similar to the one found in other Mazda models. Also, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone connectivity features should be standard equipment.
2024 Mazda CX-70 Engine Options
The new 2024 Mazda CX-70 is the SUV that will share the same platform and mechanics as the upcoming CX-90. Mazda recently reveal that it will use a new 6-cylinder powertrain and all-wheel drive (AWD). The current outgoing CX-9 uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder delivering 227 horsepower. With this in mind, we believe the CX-70’s new inline-6 will offer probably more power with a 6-cylinder powertrain.
A plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variant is highly likely as well, and it could deliver around 30 miles of electric-only driving range. Compared to other rivals, the provided number is in the same line as the Hyundai Santa Fe PHEV and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV.
2024 Mazda CX-70 Price, Release Date
We expect the 2024 Mazda CX-70 to have a starting price of around $33,000 for the base model. So, a fully-loaded CX-70 could easily touch a price of $45,000.
As for a CX-70 plug-in hybrid, we presume it could be $37,000 to $40,000, which is in line with PHEV rivals from the likes of Hyundai, Kia, and Mitsubishi. As we said, the new SUV will go on sale sometime next year, probably in the fall.
