Although it’s been around for nearly eight years, Jeep’s subcompact crossover won’t get a full redesign any time soon. Instead, it looks like the company plans to keep the current generation in production until gets completely replaced by an all-electric successor. This means that the current model should remain in production for several more years and that’s why we expect some updates for the, to remain competitive in the following years.
At this point, the officials are still quiet but we presume that the next year’s model could get some subtle updates, similar to those introduced in the Brazilian-market model. This would a couple of styling updates, along with a few novelties regarding the standard and available equipment. Some sources even speculate about the new, plug-in hybrid powertrain.
Despite the potential updates, we don’t believe that the 2024 Jeep Renegade could arrive much earlier than usual. We expect to see it sometime in the last quarter of the year.
2024 Jeep Renegade Design
So, the current generation will march on for a few more years and in order to keep it fresh, the company will offer a few updates. Most likely, we will see a mild facelift, similar to one that came with the 2023 model year in Brazil. That update brought some reshaping in terms of the hood design, which extends to the upper areas of the grille and headlights.. Also, there is the new front bumper, with a new shape, new fog lights and a more attractive overall appearance. On the other hand, we don’t expect bigger changes on the rear end.
The mechanical changes shouldn’t happen. So, the overall chassis and suspension setups are the same and offer ride quality that’s on the soft side and ensures a high level of comfort. At the same time, the Renegade offers pretty decent off-road performance. All models come standard with all-wheel-drive, while versions like Trailhawk also add various upgrades like traction control modes, skid plates, hill-descent control, higher ground clearance etc.
Interior
Interior updates are possible too. Simply, the current dashboard would use some changes, so we may presume that the 2024 Jeep Renegade will bring things like a digital instrument cluster, a new infotainment screen, while certain revisions on the center stack are also possible. Finally, we might see typical updates, such as new materials, interior color schemes etc.
Despite the updates, the cabin design won’t change overall. We will see the same layout, with the same seating organization and amount of space. Although with subcompact dimensions, the Renegade comes with two rows of seats, which both offer a lot of space and accommodate adults pretty easily. Due to the boxy shape, there is plenty of room in the second row as well, which isn’t always the thing among subcompact SUVs. The cargo area offers around 18.5 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total cargo volume goes around 50 cubic feet.
Features
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Jeep Renegade might come with some technical updates, such as a new digital instrument cluster. Updates of the infotainment system are possible too, while we could see a few more tech and convenience goodies on the list of standard equipment.
Despite the updates, most things should remain the same as in the current model. For reference, the current model comes standard with an 8.4-inch touch screen, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, a USB port, HD Radio, satellite radio, a six-speaker stereo, remote keyless entry, push-button start and dual-zone automatic climate control.
The current model also comes with available upgrades like a 9-speaker audio system, keyless entry, remote start, ambient lighting, panoramic sunroof etc. We presume some of these could become part of the standard equipment.
2024 Jeep Renegade Engine
The current model is powered by a 1.3-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 177 horsepower and pretty respectable 210 pound-feet of torque. The overall performance is good, though the 9-speed automatic isn’t the best match for this small but peppy engine. That may also be a reason for poor fuel economy, which goes just around 23 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
Some sources also speculate about the addition of the new plug-in hybrid powertrain. That version already debuted in Europe and it uses the same turbo-four engine, which gets backed up with an electric motor, for a combined output of around 240 horsepower.
2024 Jeep Renegade Release Date and Price
Despite the possible updates, we don’t expect to see the 2024 Jeep Renegade before the last quarter of the year. The starting price should go around 30.000 dollars, while key competitors are expected to remain the same. Those are models like Subaru Crosstrek, Mazda CX-30, Honda HR-V etc.
