2024 Hyundai Sonata Faceift Render

After the significant sales drop we’ve been witnessing this year, it’s no wonder that many sources suggest updates for the next year and the 2024 Hyundai Sonata model. At this point, the officials are still quiet but it looks like the next year could bring a mid-cycle refresh. This sounds perfectly fine if we consider that the current generation was introduced for the 2020 model year. We can already see renderings on the network, which clearly indicate that the focus of this update will be aesthetics.

The next year’s Sonata is expected to get a new look. On the other hand, we don’t believe that the rest of the car could change much. The interior design might get some tweaks, while the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will probably remain the same. This car offers a smooth and comfortable ride, an upscale interior and an intuitive infotainment system, while base engines also offer pretty good fuel economy.

We expect to see the 2024 Hyundai Sonata sometime in the second half of 2023.

2024 Hyundai Sonata Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Hyundai Sonata is about to receive an update, reports suggest. At this point, the officials are still quiet but we can find a lot of unofficial reports that suggest such a scenario. Moreover, we can also see a good number of digital renderings, which show the possible look of the new version. Of course, the focus is on the front end, which is about to bring a completely new face. We can see that most sources suggest a long horizontal lighting bar in a combination with super-narrow headlights and a more massive grille. The front bumper also looks more aggressive, with a much bigger air intake.

On the other hand, we don’t expect to see bigger changes in terms of mechanics. The chassis and suspension setup should remain the same and, therefore, the ride quality should also remain pretty similar. This sedan offers smooth and comfortable driving manners, though it’s not the most athletic vehicle in the class. Rivals like Honda Accord offer a much sportier ride.

Interior

The current model looks very attractive from the inside. The selection of materials is very good, and there is also a lot of attention to detail. Furthermore, starting from the 2023 model year, the larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen is now standard in lower trim levels. Considering all this, we don’t believe that the 2024 Hyundai Sonata could bring more significant updates to the inside. On the other hand, smaller modifications like new color schemes and similar things are always possible.

The overall cabin layout will remain unchanged and the next year’s model will continue with the same seating configuration. The front seats are spacious and well-shaped, while the second row, although spacious, offers less space when compared to rivals like Toyota Camry. The trunk offers 16 cubic feet of space, which is decent for the class.

Features

Naturally, we expect this update to bring some novelties regarding standard equipment, though we have to say that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, HD Radio, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a USB port and Bluetooth.

So, we presume that some additions could come from the current list of options. Some of the things that come to mind are goodies like a 10.25-inch touch screen, satellite radio, a second-row USB port, wireless device charging, navigation, a 12-speaker Bose premium stereo, a Blue Link telematics system 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, a panoramic sunroof, dual-zone automatic climate control, remote start and Hyundai’s Digital Key.

2024 Hyundai Sonata Engines

On the other hand, we don’t expect bigger changes under the hood. So, base models should continue with a 2.5-liter inline-four, which puts out around 191 horsepower and comes coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission. It returns about 28 mpg in the city and 38 mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for the segment.

The optional 1.6-liter turbo-four features a max power of 180 horsepower. However, there is notably more torque, so driving dynamics are actually better for a bit. Also, fuel economy is pretty similar and goes around 27 mpg in the city and 37 mpg on the highway.

Finally, there is the Sonata N Line, which comes with a pretty capable 2.5-liter turbo-four, wit a max output of around 290 horsepower. Driving dynamics are significantly better with this engine, but fuel economy dips to 23 mpg in the city and 33 mpg on the highway.

2024 Hyundai Sonata Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Hyundai Sonata will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023. These updates could affect the price a little bit but we don’t believe that the new model could cost significantly more. We estimate those base models will go around 27.000 dollars.
