Despite that the competition in the two-row mid-size segment isn’t all that numerous, the Korean manufacturer wants to keep its player representative. It looks like Hyundai already works on the next generation of Santa Fe, even though the current model hasn’t been around for more than just a couple of years. It was introduced in 2018 and received a facelift in 2021. Now, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is about to receive a complete overhaul.

At this point, not many things are known about the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. Still, we may presume that the company will put focus on new aesthetics, as well as on new interior design. Also, we wouldn’t be surprised if we see bigger dimensions, considering that the current model is relatively small when compared to rivals. On the other hand, the powertrain lineup probably won’t change too much.

In any case, the next generation should arrive sometime in the second half of 2023.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe is expected to receive a full redesign and from what we know so far, it will bring all kinds of changes. One of the first things that come to mind is styling. It looks like the Hyundai isn’t particularly satisfied with the current generation, as it was significantly updated after just a few years of production.

We presume that the new model will bring a completely new appearance, based on the brand’s new contemporary design language. Does this mean that the front end could take a lot of inspiration from the new Tucson, or maybe we could see a lot of similarities with eh bigger Palisade, it’s hard to say at this point.

Of course, some mechanical upgrades are expected as well, though we count on evolutionary changes in this aspect. What we expect to see are some suspension upgrades, which would improve the ride quality, particularly in terms of comfort.

Also, we expect to see the new model slightly bigger than the current one. This refers to all measurements, including the wheelbase, which should be notably longer. For reference, the current generation is good for about 108.9 inches in wheelbase, 187.8 inches in total length, 74.4 inches in width and 66.1 inches in height.

Interior

Of course, we would also expect to see a completely new cabin design, even though the current one looks pretty nice. The new design would bring further improvements regarding build quality and materials, while we also expect to see new aesthetics. Naturally, we also expect to see new tech features, including a massive infotainment screen, digital instrument cluster, new connectivity features etc.

As we’ve just mentioned, the new generation is expected to get bigger. With the longer wheelbase, the new model would provide more space on the inside, especially when it comes to legroom. Still, we don’t expect to see the third row of seats. Instead, the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe should remain a two-row mid-size crossover. Also, we would like to see a bigger cargo area compared to the current generation.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Engines

Things under the hood probably won’t change significantly. Instead, we expect that most of the current units will carry over. So, the offer would probably start with a good-old 2.5-liter inline-four, which puts out around 191 horsepower. While that’s not too much power for a vehicle of this class, it works well for daily commuting.

Things are way better with the optional 2.5-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 281 horsepower. This unit offers way better performance and it is definitely our first choice in Santa Fe’s range.

Also, there are two hybrid variants available in the current generation. Both should carry over, though some modifications are always possible. Currently, the standard hybrid comes with a system based on a 1.6-liter turbo-four engine, with a combined output of 226 horsepower. The average fuel economy goes around 36 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway.

There is also a plug-in hybrid version, based on the same turbo-four engine but with a more powerful electric motor. The combined output goes around 261 horsepower, while the average fuel economy goes around 33 mpg combined. Also, you may count on about 30 miles of range in the EV mode.

2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe will arrive sometime in the second half of 2023. The current model starts at around 30.000 dollars, but we expect that the new model will be slightly more expensive. Key competitors are models like Nissan Murano, Honda Passport, Chevy Blazer etc.
