The current generation of Honda’s well-known minivan has been around since 2018 and it was updated in 2021. Therefore, we can say it’s still relatively fresh and competitive, which means that there are a few more good years for the current generation. However, one of the things that could be considered a drawback is the powertrain. Namely, while the current V6 is excellent in terms of power and refinement, rivals like Chrysler Pacifica and Toyota Sienna offer more efficient, hybrid powertrains. That’s why some sources suggest that the 2024 Honda Odyssey could get a hybrid version. The officials are still quiet about this.
Other than the new, hybrid powertrain, we don’t believe that the next year Odyssey could bring bigger changes. The overall design will certainly remain the same, which means that you may count on a minivan that offers a smooth and comfortable ride, a refined powertrain, a nice interior, and a lot of space.

2024 Honda Odyssey Hybrid Rumored
As we’ve just mentioned, some sources speculate about the hybrid powertrain, which makes perfect sense if we consider that key rivals already feature such a configuration. Details are still unavailable but we’ve been getting reports about Honda’s new system. Allegedly, Honda engineers are working on the new, plug-in hybrid system, which would be based on a 2.0-liter engine. It would come with a decently sized battery and more capable electric motors, so the combined output would go up to around 300 horsepower, rumors suggest.
On the other hand, the standard model would continue with a familiar V6 engine. We are talking about a well-known 3.5-liter V6 that puts out around 280 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque. It comes in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission and offers pretty good driving dynamics, along with great overall refinement. The average fuel economy goes around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is typical for the segment.
2024 Honda Odyssey Design
As we already mentioned, the 2024 Honda Odyssey shouldn’t bring more important novelties, other than the hybrid powertrain. Therefore, the overall design is about to remain the same, starting from the styling, which has been updated in 2021. That model brought a new front-end design, with new headlights, a new grille etc. Therefore, there shouldn’t be more visual updates before the next generation arrives.
The same thing is with the chassis and suspension setup. This will remain the same, which means that you may count on familiar ride quality. Although a minivan, the Odyssey offers composed handling. Still, the focus is on comfort, so the ride is pretty smooth, while suspension absorbs road imperfections in a nice fashion.
Interior
On the inside, the current model looks pretty upscale, so there is no need for bigger updates. A lot of parts are shared with Honda Pilot SUV, so it’s no wonder that the Odyssey looks more upscale than most of its rivals. It features an elegant dashboard design, with nice materials and a lot of attention to detail. Furthermore, the list of standard and available features is pretty generous, which makes the cabin look even more upscale.
Besides good build quality, this cabin also offers a lot of space. There are three rows of seats, which all accommodate adults with ease. All of them are well-shaped, with great support and a high level of comfort. Passengers will enjoy long journeys in all three rows, not only because of well-designed seats but also because of pretty good sound insulation.
The cargo area also offers pretty respectable numbers. Depending on the trim level, you may count on 32.8 to 38.6 cubic feet of cargo room behind the third row, 86.6 to 92.3 cubic feet behind the second row and between 140.7 and 158 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.
However, not all things about Odyssey’s interior are great. The main issue is that the second row doesn’t fold flat. So, if you want to use maximum cargo space, you will have to physically remove the second row.

Once again, we don’t expect bigger changes, though a few tweaks are always possible. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like n 8-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, HD Radio, two USB ports, Bluetooth, a seven-speaker audio system, tri-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry and push-button start.
