It may not be a so familiar nameplate in most parts of the world but in Australia and South East Asia, the Everest is a well-known SUV that still features a good-old body-on-frame design approach, which ensures a super-high level of overall capability. The new generation has just arrived for the 2023 model year and it brings a significant improvement over the previous model. It rides better and offers more refinement, while the interior is equipped with all kinds of new tech goodies. With all these novelties, we would expect the 2024 Ford Everest to be a typical carryover model but it looks like the company has different plans.

From what we know so far, the next year will bring important novelties under the hood. Namely, even though the new generation already comes with a pretty broad range of powertrain options, the Blue Oval Company also plans to bring a plug-in hybrid version, already in the next year.

2024 Ford Everest: Electrification Coming!

As we’ve just mentioned, the 2024 Ford Everest will represent the second production year of the new generation but nevertheless, it will still bring some big novelties, reportedly. It looks like the Blue Oval company is about to offer a hybrid version of this capable SUV. What’s also interesting is that we would probably see a completely new system, probably based on a turbo-four engine, instead of the V6-based that powers the Explorer. However, details are still unavailable.

On the other hand, the rest of the lineup will carry on in the same way, starting from the well-known 2.0-liter turbodiesel, which features a max output of 154kW (210hp) and 500Nm, which is plenty enough for most drivers and a great choice if you want to save money on fuel, considering that the average fuel economy goes around 8.3 l/100km.

Also, the new generation brought the bigger 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel, with a max output of 186kW (250hp) and 590Nm of torque. Besides pretty impressive performance, this engine still keeps fuel consumption at a reasonable level, with 10 litres per 100km on average.

Finally, there is also a gasoline version on some markets, equipped with a familiar 2.3-liter turbo-four with 270 horsepower.

All engines come coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission.

2024 Ford Everest Design

As for the overall design, we don’t believe that the 2024 Ford Everest could bring any notable change. Instead, we count on the same layout that has just been introduced. The new generation rides on a notably updated T6 platform, just like its closest relative, the Ranger. Compared to the previous generation, the biggest improvements have been made in terms of ride quality, considering the new chassis and suspension setup, which offers a smoother ride without compromising the vehicle’s off-road and utility capabilities.

Of course, there is also the new styling, with a lot of inspiration taken from the new Ranger, especially at the front. The overall shape, on the other hand, doesn’t look much different from the previous generation and that’s certainly not a bad thing, because this SUV looks bold and aggressive. For the next year, the best we could see are minor updates, such as new color options, for example.

Interior

The same thing is expected with the interior design. We count on the same overall design, which has brought notable improvements compared to the previous generation. Of course, the dashboard looks more attractive with those massive screens, while improvement in terms of materials and build quality is also notably better.

As for the seating configuration, the base models come with two rows of seats and a capacity for five passengers. Just like in the previous generation, you can opt for the third row of seats and haul seven passengers. The third row might be tight but it is still a handy upgrade and something that has become a segment standard, considering that rivals like Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport are also offered in such configurations.

2024 Ford Everest Release Date

We expect that the 2024 Ford Everest will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year.
