You know that everything gravitates toward electrification when even one of the most legendary muscle cars is getting electric motors instead of classic gasoline units. We are talking about the next generation of Dodge Charger, which is about to get a full redesign soon. The all-new generation will arrive in a year or two, probably as the 2024 Dodge Charger Electric. From what we know so far, it will definitely go all-electric but it won’t be just another “soulless” EV. Instead, the company prepares some pretty unique technical solutions and features.

Of course, the overall layout will be typical for an EV while, on the other hand, there will be a lot of design solutions that closely resemble the previous generation. The new model won’t just look similar to its predecessor, it will try to offer the same level of driving enjoyment. How is that possible with an EV? We are eagerly waiting to see it.

2024 Dodge Charger Electric Design

As we already mentioned, the 2024 Dodge Charger Electric will succeed as one of the most iconic muscle cars of all time, so the expectations are huge. Of course, one of the most important changes will be the new platform, finally. The new architecture will be dedicated to electric vehicles and from what we know so far, it will meet the latest industry standards regarding battery technology and similar things.

When it comes to the exterior design, we have no doubt that the production version will take a lot of inspiration from the Daytona SRT concept, which was presented recently. That model came in a 2-door coupe form, which indicates that the Charger may be coming back to its roots in terms of the body style. In any case, the exterior design of this concept amazed us with the combination of retro and futuristic design solutions and it is definitely one of the coolest-looking cars we’ve seen in a while.

Interior

On the other hand, the concept didn’t show anything in terms of the interior, so we can only speculate. At this point, it’s hard to predict details but we are pretty sure that the company won’t necessarily follow the latest trends in the industry of EVs, where dashboards are designed in a super-simplistic manner. Instead, we expect to see something more original, something with a lot of retro vibes.

When it comes to seating configuration, we count on a typical 2+2 layout and if we consider that this car has traditionally been known for plenty of space in the second row, the new model shouldn’t be any different.

2024 Dodge Charger Electric Drivetrain and Battery

From what we know so far, the 2024 Dodge Charger Electric will be offered in, at least, three output variants. Base models, which will be called 340, will feature a max output of around 455 horsepower. On the other hand, the mid-range version, called 440, will come with a max output of 590 horsepower. Finally, we also expect to see a high-performance version, with the famous SRT badge. The details are still unavailable but we presume that Dodge engineers will tend to offer more power than the Hellcat engine.

When it comes to battery, we still don’t have details about the capacity. On the other hand, the company claims a max range of around 500 miles, which sounds really impressive. What we know for sure is that the new model will feature 800-volt battery technology, which makes this car competitive in terms of charging speed and other things.

Keeping Drivers Thrilled

In the case of most traditional carmakers, the transition to all-electric vehicles somehow looks easier compared to Dodge. Namely, models like Charger and Challengers have a huge heritage and incredible following of car enthusiasts, which are hardly accepting the inevitable truth that ICE cars will soon be gone. That’s why Dodge engineers are willing to keep the driving experience at the same level. To achieve that, they’ve decided to implement two of the most important ingredients of ICE cars into the 2024 Dodge Charger Electric. These are sound and multi-speed transmissions.

When it comes to sound, Dodge engineers installed emulators in the concept, which don’t emulate the sound of internal-combustion engines but rather offer something more futuristic. In any case, we really like the sound. Along with the sound, there is also the thrill of changing gears under heavy acceleration, so the Charger EV will also come with multiple gears, which is pretty untypical for electric cars, which usually feature one of two speeds.

With these two ingredients, Dodge management hopes that it will be able to make a big portion of purists interested in the new, all-electric iteration.

2024 Dodge Charger Electric Release Date and Price

At this point, it’s still unknown when the 2024 Dodge Charger Electric is about to arrive but sources speculate about late 2023 or early 2024. We estimate that base models could cost around 60.000 dollars.
