Chrysler has been struggling with new car models for a very long time and as a result, the current lineup consists of just a couple of models. Of course, one of them is the Pacifica minivan, while the other one is an outdated full-size sedan called Chrysler 300. Despite several updates, the current generation is too old to be relevant on the market, so many of us wonder about the nameplate’s future. So far, we know that the current generation will be discontinued after the 2023 model year but what about the 2024 Chrysler 300? Is there a successor on the way?

At this point, the officials are still quiet but on the other hand, the internet is full of unofficial reports that suggest the next generation could go all-electric. This makes perfect sense if we consider that corporal siblings like Charger and Challenger will soon get all-electric powertrains. We expect more details in the future so, meanwhile, let’s speculate about the possible changes in the next-generation model.

2024 Chrysler 300 Redesign

At this point, we still can’t establish if the successor is on the way or not. Still, if the company is willing to retain this nameplate in production, we have no doubt that the next model would come all-electric. At this point, we see two possible directions for the new 2024 Chrysler 300. One of them would be to see an all-electric sedan, with a lot of similarities with the next–generation Charger, which recently had a premiere in the concept form.

The other scenario suggests a little bit different design approach, in accordance with the current trends in the automotive industry. Namely, today’s market is mostly about SUVs and crossovers, so various sources suggest that the 2024 Chrysler 300 could come with such a layout, as a large SUV.

Drivetrain

Of course, the most interesting part of the 2024 Chrysler 300 will be its drivetrain. As we already mentioned, the new generation is expected to come with an all-electric powertrain and considering that a lot of parts would be shared with the new Charger, we presume this would refer to the drivetrain as well. While the details about the battery are still unavailable, we know that the all-electric Charger will be offered in three output variants. Base models will feature a max output of 455 horsepower, while the mid-range version should be good for about 590 horsepower. On the other hand, details about the high-performance variant are yet to come.

Besides the same power figures, we also expect to see the same technical solutions, such as a transmission with multiple gears and an integrated exhaust speaker that emulates the sound of a classic internal-combustion car.

Should I Buy the 2023 Model or Wait for the 2024 Chrysler 300?

The 2023 model year will be the final of the current generation and therefore, it’s quite obvious that the overall design brings no significant changes. However, what’s worth considering is the new special version that the company has prepared as a kind of farewell song. That version will come with a good-old 6.4-liter V8 HEMI engine, with a max output of around 485 horsepower and 475 pound-feet of torque. The engine will come paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and it will make this large sedan able to hit 60mph in just 4.3 seconds.

Other than that, the rest of the lineup will remain the same. We will see the same overall design and two familiar powertrain options. Base models will continue with a familiar 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 292 horsepower. Also, there is a good-old 5.7-liter HEMI V8, which features a max output of 363 horsepower. The base 2023 Chrysler 300 starts at around 35.000 dollars.
