In the segment of pricey compact SUVs, the RDX always represented a more rational, value-for-money choice. The current generation is no exception and it is still one of the best models in the segment. It’s been on the market since 2019 and then refreshed with the 2022 model year. So, we expect it will remain in production for some more time, probably another year or two. This indicates that the 2024 Acura RDX shouldn’t feature bigger changes, but rather a typical carryover model, with minor updates only.

All this means that we are about to see a familiar design, which still has a lot of great things to offer in this highly competitive segment. We like this SUV because of its capable powertrain and pretty high level of athleticism. Furthermore, the cabin looks decently nice, while the list of standard equipment is long. The amount of passenger space is also pretty generous, while the cargo area is also pretty roomy. On the other hand, the infotainment system is a little bit outdated and complicated to use and we see that as the biggest drawback of this very good SUV.

2024 Acura RDX Design

As we’ve just mentioned, the current generation is expected to remain in production for a few more years and, logically, we don’t believe that the 2024 Acura RDX could bring more important changes. We expect to see a familiar design, which was introduced four years ago and updated last year with a couple of new details. All in all, the model still looks pretty attractive and fresh, so the best we could see are updates in terms of new color options.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will remain the same. This SUV features a pretty refined suspension and chassis design, offering a pretty high level of athleticism. Besides engaging handling, the SUV also offers a smooth and comfortable ride, so we could say it is a perfect mix of two worlds.

Interior

The cabin of RDX is a pretty nice place to be in. It features pretty good overall quality, although it’s still not as luxurious as German rivals or Lexus models. Still, we like the dashboard design very much, with all those physical controls, which make life easier. On the other hand, the infotainment system isn’t great and takes a quite big learning curve.

The front seats are well-shaped, with good support and a lot of space. The driver’s position is excellent in terms of ergonomics and visibility. Back in the second row, there is also a sufficient amount of passenger space, large enough to accommodate adults pretty easily.

Finally, there is the cargo area, which is also pretty spacious for the segment. You may count on about 29.5 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total cargo capacity goes up to 59 cubic feet, which is pretty good for a compact luxury SUV.

Features

Updates of this kind are always possible, so the 2024 Acura RDX might come with a few novelties in this aspect. Still, we believe that most things are about to remain the same, which means that base models would be equipped with goodies like a 10.2-inch infotainment display, Amazon Alexa, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a Wi-Fi hotspot, voice recognition, Bluetooth, a nine-speaker stereo, multiple USB ports, satellite radio, HD Radio, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, a universal garage door opener, dual-zone automatic climate control, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, and a panoramic roof.

Currently, there is a decent list of available options, which includes things like a 12- or 16-speaker ELS Studio premium stereo, navigation, wireless device charging, GPS-linked climate control, multicolor ambient interior lighting, and remote start. We presume some of these could be added to the list of standard equipment.

In terms of safety, base models should come with goodies like a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keeps assist, traffic-sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams and many more.

2024 Acura RDX Engine

We expect that the 2024 Acura RDX will continue with the same 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out 272 horsepower. With such figures, the RDX is among the most powerful models in the class, when it comes to base engines. The acceleration is quick, while the 10-speed automatic transmission does a really good job too. Finally, there is a pretty decent fuel economy, which goes around 22 mpg in the city and 28 mpg on the highway.

However, the problem with this model is that there are no powertrain upgrades. German rivals are all available with six-cylinder upgrades, while models like Volvo XC60 come with a pretty capable hybrid powertrain. There were rumors about RDX getting a powertrain upgrade but it looks like that won’t happen, at least not before the next generation arrives.

2024 Acura RDX Release Date and Price

With no bigger changes to come, we are pretty sure that the 2024 Acura RDX will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, probably without bigger pricing changes. The current model starts at around 43.000 dollars.
