The fresh new 2023 Tesla Model Y will arrive next year with the same chassis, interior, and powertrain as the smaller Model 3. However, for 2023, the manufacturer will make some exterior and interior changes. There are also rumors that Tesla is preparing to introduce a larger battery that should deliver more range. One thing is for sure, and the Tesla Model Y remains a two-rows seater, with an option to add a third one as well.

The current Tesla Model Y is powered by a dual on-board electric motor, delivering astonishing output and maximum range of up to 326 miles per charge. On top of that, there is a standard range model that comes with rear-wheel drive, while Long Range and Performance models get all-wheel drive as standard. Compared to more expensive rivals such as the Audi e-tron and the Jaguar I-Pace, the Tesla Model Y offers more features for invested money.

2023 Tesla Model Y Design

The new 2023 Tesla Model Y differs in many things from other models in the class. Generally speaking, Tesla cars are really recognized on the roads, thanks to attractive styling and compact design. The front end of this SUV is smooth, including a unique grille and headlights. Like the Model 3, the Tesla Model Y looks attractive on the back as well, but is noticeably taller and a bit longer.

The Long-Range version are offered with 19-inch alloy wheels, though 20-inch alloys can be fitted optionally. However, the Performance model comes with more unique and bigger 21-inch alloy wheels. As for colors, buyers can choose black, metallic grey (Midnight Silver), deep blue metallic or red.

What`s New Inside?

Inside, the 2023 Tesla Model Y is modern, offering great comfort. The highlight is definitively an updated landscape-oriented 15-inch touchscreen that’s very user-friendly and looks great. The quality of the cabin materials is on the highest level, and there is plenty of passenger space in the 5-seater version.

Moreover, you can still get a 7-seater arrangement optionally, but it will reduce space inside, especially on the back. Cargo space of the Tesla Model Y offers 68 cubic feet when the rear seats are fully down.

2023 Tesla Model Y Specs

As mentioned, the 2023 Tesla Model Y comes with the same dual on-board electric motor as the Model 3. These motors are delivering great output and a maximum range of up to 326 miles per charge. The current Tesla Y comes with a 75-kWh liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack located under the floor.

However, for 2023, the manufacturer will add more larger batteries, resulting in more millage than before. The EPA estimates the Long-Range model with 131 MPGe in the city and 117 MPGe on the highway. However, the Performance model’s fuel economy is 115 MPGe city and 106 MPGe highway.

Price, Release Date

The new 2023 Tesla Model Y will definitively cost more because of larger battery. The current Long Range variant starts at $53,690, while the Performance version starts at $56,990.

Bear in mind that these prices are without destination charge and any state incentives. Interestingly, compared to some rivals, the Tesla Model Y is more affordable than the Jaguar I-Pace, Audi e-tron Sportback, and Polestar 2 models. We can expect the new model to go on sale next year.
