The new 2023 Mazda CX-90 is reportedly in the works, and it will replace the famous Mazda CX-9 model. According to the Japanese carmaker, there will be drastic changes in the following year. Actually, the manufacturer will introduce five new models internationally, including CX-50, CX-60, CX-70, CX-80, and CX-90 models. If you didn’t know, the same happened last year when Mazda replaced the CX-3 model with CX-30.
From the information we got, the forthcoming CX-90 will ride on the new platform, making this SUV slightly more significant than today’s Mazda CX-9. Obviously, Mazda’s target is to deliver more interior space that will result in more comfort.
2023 Mazda CX-90 Renderings
At this point, there are no official images of the upcoming 2023 Mazda CX-90. From available information and renderings, the new SUV will ride on a much larger platform than its predecessor, CX-9. Definitively, this will translate more roomy cabin for sure. We also expect the CX-90 to keep the same KODO design language as the CX-70 model as well.
From what we are able to see, if we can rely on the renderings, the forthcoming model will dominate on the front end. It features a sharper nose, a new grille, and LED headlights as well. On top of that, we noticed new wheels and roof rails, which should be part of standard equipment.
Cabin Features
On the inside, we expect the upcoming 2023 Mazda CX-90 to be modern and comfortable. Like the CX-9, the new CX-90 will continue with the same seating layout.
However, this time the manufacturer will use a larger platform that will result in a more roomy cabin. There should be three rows of seats and enough legroom and headroom for all seven passengers. Like on the many SUVs, the CX-90 will probably be ideal for fitting small kids on the third bench. On the technology side, we presume the new larger infotainment system to come standard as well as the navigation, Android Audio, and Apple CarPlay.
2023 Mazda CX-90 Engine Specs
At this point, there is no information regarding the engines of the upcoming 2023 Mazda CX-90. Most likely that Mazda will use some of the existing ones. By some news, the forthcoming SUV will use a turbocharged inline-six petrol engine or a plug-in hybrid system. We also expect a pair of four-cylinder petrol engines with an electric motor.
All upcoming Mazda SUVs sold in the US will probably be fitted as standard with all-wheel drive. However, we don’t have exact output numbers right now, but there should be enough power to satisfy most of the buyers.
Release Date and Price
The all-new 2023 Mazda CX-90 will debut sometime next year with four other announced models, CX-50, CX-60, CX-70, and the CX-80. However, specific release dates remain thin on the ground, though the front-wheel-drive-based CX-50 will kick stores probably first. Officially, the CX-90 will arrive before CX-70.
Anyway, the manufacturer will bring many changes to the CX lineup, including new platforms, interiors, and engines. In addition, the upcoming three-row SUV will compete with SUVs such as the Hyundai Palisade, Toyota Kluger, Audi Q7, Volvo XC90, and Genesis GV80.
