The new 2023 Lexus RZ has been announced, and it will be the brand’s first dedicated EV. This small crossover was revealed during a presentation via Toyota’s plans to launch 30 EVs by 2030. As far as we know, the new model will ride on the same e-TNGA platform that’s also available with models like the 2023 Toyota BZ4X and 2023 Subaru Solterra. This means we can expect the new Lexus RZ to use the same steer-by-wire technology and dual-motor all-wheel drive setup as well.

However, to separate the RZ model from the mentioned one, expect Lexus to make some performance tuning. We got information that the setup should deliver more than the 214 hp with an electric motor on both the front and rear axle. On top of that, there might also be better battery capacity than the 71.4 kilowatt-hours.

2023 Lexus RZ First Look

The new 2023 Lexus RZ looks more attractive than any other Lexus model, thanks to a refreshed design language. The Lexus RZ was previewed in concept form last year, with futuristic styling. First of all, unlike the other Lexus models, the RZ comes with signature boomerang lights that are not sharp, but the spindle grille is almost the same.

However, the grille looks somehow better, probably due to closed gratings. As we saw on the LF-Z model, the upcoming RZ comes with almost identical swift roofline and long tailgate. The rear end is also familiar, and the RZ is adopting taillights with less dramatic effect compared to the concept version.

Luxurious Interior

On the inside, there are no images showing the cabin of the forthcoming 2023 Lexus RX. In general, we expect it to offer a more luxurious cabin than the current RX model. From what we know, the new SUV will ride on the same e-TNGA platform just like the 2023 Toyota BZ4X and 2023 Subaru Solterra model. This means we can expect enough room for five passengers across two rows of seats. We also presume the new infotainment system, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, Amazon Alexa compatibility, and a great audio setup.

As for safety features, the new RZ will offer a plethora of them. It should include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Plus 10 airbags.

2023 Lexus RZ Motor Specs

As we said, the manufacturer will probably tune the 2023 Lexus RZ to help differentiate from the Toyota BZ4X and Subaru Solterra models. So, expect Lexus to add performance tuning and to deliver more than the 214 hp. We also heard that there is a chance Lexus might also add more battery capacity than the 71.4 kilowatt-hours found in those non-luxury models.

We do know exactly if the all-wheel drive is set to become standard on the Lexus EVs. If you didn’t know, Lexus calls this system electrified all-wheel-drive Direct4, which will automatically adjust torque going to each of the wheels, providing better stability.

2023 Lexus RZ Release Date, Price

Toyota’s plans to launch 30 EV models by 2030, and we’ll see the Lexus RZ first in showrooms next year. It’s worth mentioning that the RZ is the production version of the famous LF-Z electrified concept that was unveiled in March last year.

The new model is wearing a unique Lexus design language, and it comes with many new technologies. Unlike the RX model that starts at $48,000, the Lexus RZ will be around $60,000, which is a great value.
