The new 2023 Genesis GV70 is a luxury performance SUV that features high-end interior design, athletic chassis, and a pair of gutsy engines. Based on the sports Genesis sedan G70, the new GV70 compact-luxury SUV provides similar driving enjoyment with some extra cargo room. Like its sibling GV80 model, this SUV employs many luxury features, that’s making it a great value player in the crowded compact-luxury SUV market.
On top of that, it deploys under the hood two engine choices, including a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a more powerful twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6. All-wheel drive is standard, just as is the eight-speed automatic transmission.
2023 Genesis GV70 Design
The exterior styling of the 2023 Genesis GV70 incorporates all the themes found on the bigger GV80. It looks muscle thanks to a diamond-pattern grille and twin light-bar motif. If you go for the Sport model, you can count on more sportiness. This model features a darkened grille, 21-inch wheels, dark chrome trim, and a unique front.
As for the rear fascia, the GV70 looks aggressive thanks to stylish taillights and sporty exhaust system that is surrounded with a fake plasticky grille. Genesis claims the GV70 will be available in colors gray, silver, black, red, blue, green, and attractive Barossa Burgundy (aka purple).
Roomy and Modern Interior
The GV70’s cabin looks luxurious and spacious like its larger sibling, the GV80. Inside, you can find only high-quality materials, giving a luxurious feel to this SUV. Unlike the sedan variant, the SUV model has more space to offer for back-seat riders, but it’s still not particularly roomy. Cargo capacity of this model is more generous and is in line with models Audi Q5, the X3, and the Mercedes-Benz GLC-class.
However, the GV70 adopts the same infotainment as the larger GV80 SUV. On top of that, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot are all standard features. Anyway, you can get a high-end Lexicon stereo system optionally.
2023 Genesis GV70 Engine Specs
Under the hood, the 2023 Genesis GV70 can be got with either a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder or a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. The four-cylinder is the entry-level engine that’s capable of producing 300-hp. However, the V-6 is more powerful, and it makes 375-hp on the Sport model.
Unlike the sedan version that comes with a manual transmission, the GV70 will be available only with an eight-speed automatic. Don’t forget that this SUV also comes standard with all-wheel drive. Genesis claims that the GV70 with the V6 can run from 0 to 60 mph in an impressive 4.9-second.
How Much Will the 2023 Genesis GV70 Cost?
The all-new 2023 Genesis GV70 is the manufacturer’s first entrant in the red-hot compact luxury SUV segment. As you probably know, this segment is basically crowded with many great models. So, the GV70 will rival competition such as the BMW X3, the Mercedes-Benz GLC-class, and the Volvo XC60.
It starts at a little higher than $42,500, offering great value for invested money. As far as we know, Genesis’s electric SUV will go on sale likely later this year as a 2023 model.
