After the recently spied photos, we have our first look at renderings of the upcoming 2023 BMW X8 model. Rumors of the new flagship SUV dated from four years ago, and it was recently confirmed officially by BMW chairman Oliver Zipse. It said that we can expect the new flagship model to be built at the Spartanburg plant and to be unveiled at the end of the year. Fun fact is that in the same plant models like the X3, X6, X7 and complete with their M versions are made.

The fresh rendering reveals an interesting design that should separate this SUV from the rest of the models. It features new split LED headlights, polarizing appearance, and similar styling as the recently unveiled BMW iX.

2023 BMW X8 First Look

The new 2023 BMW X8 has been spied recently testing, and we have our first look at its renderings. First of all, the X8 looks somehow shorter compared to its sibling, the BMW X7.

However, it features more aggressive styling thanks to massive grille treatment and slimmer-styled headlights and taillights. It also comes with a new quad exhaust system, and it features 21-inch wheels.

Modern Interior

Like the iX model, the new 2023 BMW X8 should come with the same luxurious cabin, with plenty of room through two rows of seats. Many believe that the manufacturer will push the second-row push further back to create more legroom. In general, the X8 will become a flagship sharing many design cues with one of the most completed sedans on the market, the 7 Series.

However, that doesn’t mean it won’t inherit some of its own uniqueness. We also expect the upcoming model to host many drivers assist features and an excellent package of standard safety features.

2023 BMW X8 Engine Specs

At this point, we don’t know what engine will exactly power the new 2023 BMW X8. Right now, there are many speculations, and we are tipping on a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and plug-in hybrid system, the same that will power the upcoming BMW XM.

According to many speculations, this engine will be able to produce 750 horsepower. The entry engine will likely be a 3.0 liter turbo straight-six with circa 380 horsepower. We also expect BMW to use a ZF eight-speed auto that is also available on all BMWs as standard. Unlike smaller SUVs, the X8 is most likely to come with AWD.

2023 BMW X8 Price, Release Date, and Rivals

The all-new 2023 BMW X8 looks way more aggressive than the BMW iX. As an upcoming flagship, it dominates the front end, featuring a very massive eye-catchy grille and stylish headlights. As for the price, it’s a little too early to determinate it, especially considering the X8 is still in early developmental stages.

Anyway, we expect the new model to be introduced later in the year, while sales could start in the second half of 2023. By that time, the new Land Rover Range Rover SV will be around, as will the Bentley Bentayga, and the Maybach GLS. All mentioned models cost more than $100,000, so the BMW X8 could be clearly in the same ballpark.
