The refreshed version of the German flagship SUV, 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class, is entering its seventh model year on sale. After some small exterior changes last year, the new SUV is ready for further upgrades. Unfortunately, for 2022, this compact SUV is expected to be a carryover model. That means it will keep the same design language and proportions.
However, inside, the GLC will bring some heat, featuring more standard equipment and better comfort. Generally, the Mercedes GLC offers one of the classiest cabins in the segment with elegant lines and gorgeous design elements. However, unlike the previous model (with three engine options), Mercedes packed the new GLC with only a hybrid system.
2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC Redesign
German’s flagship model, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz CLC, will receive some minor upgrades. This attractive and compact SUV will look more upscale than before. Recently, Mercedes released a batch of photo that reveals a very sleek profile and the new shaped LED headlights.
Besides, it also features sharper lines on the hood and better graphics on the taillights. A high-performance AMG variant is also coming, and we could see even more sporty styling. This package includes better alloy wheels, grille, along with aerodynamic additions.
Like the redesigned C-class sedan, Mercedes will perform a similar makeover on the newest GLC-class model. The design inside is modern and comfortable. This mid-size SUV offers two rows of seats and enough room for five passengers. As we mentioned, the manufacturer will most likely use the same treatment inside like on the latest C-Class. We hope to see the same large, vertically-oriented touchscreen infotainment display, advanced driver-assistance features, and much better preferences.
Compared to other rivals, the GLC looks more upscale. It comes standard with synthetic leather upholstery, a 10.2-inch touch screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, HD Radio, and a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster. On top of that, upper trims offer Genuine leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, and a heated steering wheel.
2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC Engine Specs
The upcoming 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC is mechanically similar to the C-class sedan. It uses the same mild-hybrid system consisting of a 2.0-liter engine turbocharged four-cylinder engine, 48-volt hybrid system, and nine-speed automatic transmission. With the same configuration, C-Class develops an output of 255-hp.
However, the Mercedes-Benz GLC should deliver at least 300 horses. A High-performance AMG version is also expected, but we are still waiting for some official news about it.
Release Date, Price
The redesigned 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is expected to be revealed by the end of this year. However, we are expecting sales to start in early 2022. As we mentioned, the upcoming GLC is a carryover model that will receive mild upgrades regarding exterior and interior.
As for pricing, the new SUV will definitively cost more than the current one that starts at $40,000. Interestingly, the caranddriver website listed that GLC will cost around $45,000, which is justified considering minor upgrades and a hybrid system. In the same class and price range are also rivals like the Audi Q5 and BMW X3 models.
