The 2022 Mazda 3 hatchback and sedan models are ready to receive plenty of improvements over the previous generation. As you probably know, Mazda was last year expanded its powertrain line, adding a new potent turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. Moreover, at the opposite end, the base model continues to use the same naturally aspirated 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
However, for 2022, Mazda will add more equipment between the trims. For example, the base model now comes standard with navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and an outstanding 12-speaker Bose stereo system. Generally, both sedan and hatchback versions have supportive seats and comfortable passenger accommodations.
2022 Mazda 3 Exterior Features
Both sedan and hatchback 2022 Mazda 3 models continue with the same KODO design language as their predecessors. Generally, they look attractive and sleek, featuring more bolder styling. However, dimensionally, they are different, and the sedan version measures 183.5 inches, while the hatch is 175.6 inches.
As you can see, the hatch model is more garage-friendly and is among the most stylish in its segment. This model looks more polarizing than the sedan version, and it comes standardly with snazzier 18-inch alloy wheels.
Interior Layout and Trims Equipment
The cabin of 2022 Mazda 3 is not ordinary, at all. This attractive car offers a very spacious cabin with comfortable passenger accommodations. The hatchback version elevates more than useful 20 cubic feet of trunk, while the Mazda3 sedan features around 13 cubic feet of storage. However, thanks to 60/40-split rear seats, both models can fold flat to create more space.
Moreover, plenty of customizations are available, and you can make your own unique interior. Like before, the base model comes with supportive cloth seats, and it features more soft-touch materials. Also, as a part of standard equipment, Mazda offers a cool 8.8-inch view screen, audio, navigation, two USB ports, Bluetooth connectivity, and more. The Turbo model is even more loaded. It includes a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters, head-up display, a power moonroof, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and leatherette upholstery.
Safety
The safety suite is better than ever, and Mazda 3 includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, a lane-departure warning, a blind-spot monitor, and rear cross-traffic alert.
2022 Mazda 3 Engine Options
Under the hood, the new 2022 Mazda 3 is available with three different four-cylinder engines. The base sedan still uses a 2.0-liter engine that makes 155 ponies and comes only with front-wheel drive. Moving up, the manufacturer offers optionally 2.5-liter four-cylinder that unlocks 186-hp, that comes with an all-wheel-drive system.
The most favorite and powerful is a new turbocharged 2.5-liter that generates 250-hp. Six-speed manual transmission is available, but only if you stick with front-wheel drive. Opting for the all-wheel-drive system, the six-speed automatic transmission is available.
Release Date and Price
Like the predecessor, the new 2022 Mazda 3 will feature an attractive design language and more standard equipment through the trims. Mazda recently reveals that redesigned version will arrive later this year, keeping the same price range.
The current sedan model starts at $20,500, plus a $945 destination charge, while the hatchback begins at $22,500. The Mazda 3 2.5 Turbo model that is equipped with an AWD system cost little less than 30k.
