Some exciting news, Kia unveiled the new minivan that should replace the famous Sedona model. According to the latest reports, the upcoming minivan will be called 2022 Kia Carnival. Unlike the Sedona model, the Carnival looks more attractive, featuring boxy SUV-like styling. Large wheels, crossover-like proportions, and beautiful signature daytime running lights that flow into the attractive grille give this minivan an upscale-SUV vibe.

Generally, the first impressions are positive, and the new Carnival reminds us of the famous Range Rover. Besides the exterior, the interior also gets some advanced stuff, like an optional dual-display setup with digital gauges and a navigation-equipped center touchscreen. On top of that, all Carnival will use a potent 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 290-hp with front-wheel drive and an eight-speed automatic transmission.

2022 Kia Carnival Exterior

The 2022 Carnival is an impressively upscale replacement for Kia’s outgoing Sedona model. This minivan features much more attractive styling, and it was designed in the same California studio as the Telluride and the Sorento SUVs. At first look, you’ll notice a more aggressive front fascia that looks similar to the new Sorento.

However, around the back, the upcoming Carnival looks more minivan-like. One particularly remarkable thing is that this minivan is one of the first vehicles to have the redesigned Kia logo on its hood. It`s also recognized by attractive snazzy daytime running lights and stylish 17-inch alloy wheels. Kia also reveals that 19-inch alloys will available as well, but only on higher trims. On top of that, the manufacturer offers some of the Premium paint colors including Aurora Black Pearl, Ceramic Silver, Astra Blue, and Snow White Pearl.

Premium Cabin

The forthcoming 2022 Kia Carnival looks astonishing inside. Generally, it features more modern styling than the outgoing Sedona. Stepping in, you’ll first notice a large center console and a Mercedes-style dual-screen infotainment system with a digital gauge display. However, the more upscale SX-Prestige trim offers leather upholstery and reclining second-row seats, while a panoramic sunroof is optional. According to Kia, the Carnival has enough room to fit up to eight passengers.

Interior technology is much more better on the Carnival, compared to the Sedona model. Moreover, the new Kia Carnival comes with an 8.0-inch infotainment screen as standard, and it also hosts dual 12.3-inch displays. As standard, the manufacturer also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as the nine USB ports. A rear-seat entertainment system also available, starting with the SX trim, while the mighty 12-speaker Bose stereo is part of the top-spec SX-Prestige trim.

2022 Kia Carnival Powertrain Specs

Under the hood, the forthcoming 2022 Kia Carnival uses a 3.5-liter V-6 producing a healthy 290 hp. This minivan also uses an eight-speed automatic transmission as standard as the front-wheel drive. All-wheel-drive is not on the menu, which is a big minus. Generally, the competitors as the Pacifica has an optional plug-in-hybrid powertrain, while Sienna comes only as a hybrid.

However, we don’t expect Kia to offer some of these setups on the new Carnival, at least not right away. Kia says that this minivan, thanks to the engine, is able to tow up to 3500 pounds, which is excellent for such a minivan. On the other hand, this refined engine provided sprightly acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in 7 seconds. Fuel-economy ratings are slightly better than the Sedona’s, with numbers 19 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined.
