The first-ever image of the 2022 GMC Terrain was being leaked online a few days ago. From many blog reports, the new model is wearing a popular trim Denali. If you didn’t know, this trim is the pinnacle of GMC’s offering, featuring many pieces of equipment. Thanks to provided image, we can literary take a sneak peek of the upcoming premium compact crossover ahead of its scheduled debut.

General Motors planned to introduce the new GMC Terrain in March, but the Covid-19 pandemic forced many automakers, including Cadillac, to delay the redesigned model’s arrival until the 2022 model year.

The new 2022 GMC Terrain’s leaked image gives us a close look at what styling changes are applied to the new SUV. First of all, the upcoming model looks bolder than its predecessor, featuring a revised front fascia. As we can see, the front comes with a larger reshaped grille, new C-shaped headlamps with different LED light signatures that we saw last time.

Also, GMC applied the new alloy wheel design, resulting in a more sporty stance. The vehicle in the leaked image most likely the Terrain Denali model, considering it’s wearing a unique chrome mesh grille and additional chrome trim.

The 2022 GMC Terrain is a two-row SUV featuring effective sound insulation and well-cushioned seats that make the cabin a pleasant environment. Luggage space behind is decent, measuring 29.6 cubic feet of space. However, this can be increased by folding them down, creating 63.3 cubic feet of luggage space. Interestingly, the Honda CR-V and Toyota RAV4, beats Terrains figures by a few cubic feet.

As a part of standard equipment, the new Terrain features an infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto smartphone integration, four USB ports, and the GMC Pro Safety package of driver assistance features. The embroidered headrests and stitched dashboard are only available, choosing the top trim Denali. On top of that, Denali also offers Bose audio, drivers-side memory settings, navigation, a 360-degree camera system, and wireless charging.

Powertrain Specs

The latest 2022 GMC Terrain is the SUV that will be available with two gasoline engine choices. The base setup will consist of the 1.5-liter turbocharged engine rated at 170 horsepower and 203 pound-feet of torque. According to GMC, this engine is available with a six-speed automatic transmission.

However, for customers who want a little more power, GMC also offers an optional 2.0-liter turbocharged engine. Thanks to this engine Terrains can generate 252 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. This engine comes with a GM nine-speed automatic transmission. Both models use a front-wheel-drive, while all-wheel-drive is available on the upper trims.

How Much Does the 2022 GMC Terrain Cost?

In the crowded SUV segment, there are a vast number of models that are classified very high. The new 2022 GMC Terrain is one of them, featuring handsome styling and many premium elements inside. Production of the GMC Terrain will start later this year in the GM San Luis Potosi factory.

However, the price is not yet officially available, but it seems that it will be higher than the current model, which costs $25,000. The Denali trim is the most expensive, and it should start at about $40,000 before options.
