This SUV will use the famous body-on-frame architecture, and it should ride on GM’s midsize truck platform. Firstly, the new model looks attractive, and we like what the manufacturer did with its wheels that are looking stylish and big. Also, GMC will stick with a proven engine. It’ll use the same 3.6-liter V-6 that is also available under the GMC Canyon model.

After reviving the GMC Hummer pickup truck, the manufacturer reveals that it is working on the new off-roader called 2022 GMC Jimmy. According to the latest news, the new model could be GM’s answer to the famous Jeep Wrangler and the Ford Bronco. This off-road-SUV will be made on the popular body-on-frame architecture, and it will ride on the GM’s mid-size-truck platform. If you dint know, the same platform underpins Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon pickups.
At first glance, the upcoming Jimmy from the front looking the same as the Acadia model. Of course, it owns its unique identity, and the difference is visible firstly on the headlights. It also has a slightly slimmer grille and big GMC lettering in the middle of it.
Interior Will Be Modern
Truck-based 2022 GMC Jimmy is a compact SUV that will feature a very modern cabin. This model should come in the form of two rows of seats, and it could host five passengers comfortably.
Many believe that this model will feature the same styling and techs as the latest Acadia model. If that happens, we could expect the entry model to feature tri-zone auto climate control, an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, keyless ignition, a Wi-Fit hotspot, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and five USB ports. Beyond that, we are assuming that it will include the GMC Pro Safety Plus Package. This package consists of automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking aids, plus a blind-spot alert and rear cross-traffic alert.
2022 GMC Jimmy Engine Performance
The new 2022 GMC Jimmy will use one of Canyon’s engines. The forthcoming model will most likely be available with the 3.6-liter V6 powertrain that produces 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque under the Canyon pickup. From the information that the car and driver website listed, this unit will use the same 8-speed automatic transmission. However, we must mention that it is not yet clear if the figures will be the same as in the Canyon model.
Release Date and Price
At this moment, GMC didn’t reveal any information regarding the release date and pricing of this off-roader. However, many popular websites were written that this SUV would be available to purchase next year. Price is also rumored, and it could be around $30,000. Overall, expect a tough battle because GMC Jimmy is in the same segment with models such as Jeep Wrangler and the Ford Bronco
