The more innovative and better 2022 GMC Canyon is arriving. GM recently revealed that he is working on the facelifted version of this popular pickup truck, and that we can expect many upgrades.
If you didn’t know, the GMC Canyon is a great rated truck that is essentially more glamorous than the Chevy Colorado. Basically, they are both largely identical underneath the surface. However, the GMC Canyon has its own charm, and the new model will look even more attractive. On top of that, Canyon will offer the same three engine options, including the most potent 3.6-liter V6 that produces 308 horsepower.
2022 GMC Canyon Exterior
The upcoming 2022 GMC Canyon is a premium midsize pickup truck that offers very attractive language details. Generally, its front fascia resemblance to the full-size GMC Sierra truck. It looks rugged, thanks to a larger new grille that’s more layered and sculpted. Also, it features LED running lights, projector-beam headlights, and flared fenders, providing a more muscle look.
For added distinction, the manufacturer used a new 20-inch wheel and a polished exhaust tip. The most off-roads abilities are available with the AT4 model. This model looks more rugged, and its off-roads appearance is enhanced by prominent red recovery hooks.
Interior With More Comfort
In this department, we don’t expect significant changes at all. Of course, the 2022 GMC Canyon will feature better materials and even some small tech upgrades. Unlike the outgoing truck, we can expect much better upholstery materials and even an upgraded infotainment system.
The current model is offered with the 7-inch touchscreen, but some early reports suggesting even larger on the new one. Generally, this is a smart choice, consider that many rivals are offering much larger screens. With that, we primarily mean on the new Ram 1500. In addition to amenities, the forthcoming pickup offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto capability, two USB ports, and a power driver’s seat. However, more features can be expected on the upper trims.
2022 GMC Canyon Engine Specs
GMC Canyon engines are unchanged for 2022. That means we should see the same three engines. The first one that powers the 2022 GMC Canyon is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine making 200 horsepower. This engine is the most favorite with fleet buyers and is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission.
The most recommended is still the 3.6-liter V6, which is teamed with 8-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to the V6 engine, it puts out 308 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. On top of that, it endows the Canyon with a tow rating of 7,000 pounds.
Diesel Engine Is Available Once More
The new GMC Canyon will once more use a 2.8-liter turbodiesel, which produces 181 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque. Thanks to this engine, Canyon is able to maximum tow 7,700 pounds. We must mention that diesel is more expensive than gasoline V6, but it provides much better fuel economy numbers. Like the 4-cylinder engine, the turbodiesel uses the same 6-speed automatic transmission.

According to GMC, the new Canyon should be introduced sometime in the following year. Besides a more attractive design, the forthcoming truck will also feature more standard equipment.
However, pricing is not yet revealed, but we can expect it to be in the range of the current one. The outgoing model starts at 28,000 and can pass the price of $50,000 fully loaded.
