The new 2022 Genesis G70 is going to heat up the sedan’s luxury segment for sure. This model for the following year is getting some serious upgrades. It features an attractive compact design and a new glitzier front fascia that includes a diamond-hatched grille.
On top of that, the manufacturer made some changes inside, and the new Genesis G70 looks more luxurious. Moreover, like the previous model, it sits on the same platform allowing a roomy cabin for five occupants. Under the hood, this sedan deploys two engines on which 2.0-liter turbo-four remains standard, while 3.3-liter V-6 is optional.
2022 Genesis G70 Facelift
Definitively, the new 2022 Genesis G70 looks a tad sharper than the outgoing variant. From the information that we got, it will sit on the same platform as its predecessor. However, some refreshments are noticeable, mostly on the front fascia.
The much more attractive grille is present and is more V-shaped than before. Generally speaking, it looks rich and classy, complemented by larger lower air intakes. Besides the grille, Genesis also added new LED headlights bisected by a pair of linear daytime running lights. On the back, some updates are visible as well, including quad-LED taillamps and a spoiler.
Luxurious Interior
On the inside, the 2022 Genesis G70 is much better than before. This sedan continues to offer the same driver-centric cockpit, but improved in several ways. Most notably, it features more high-quality materials and the new 10.25-inch navigation screen. Also, as a part of standard equipment, the manufacturer offers a new 8-inch digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, leatherette upholstery, contrast stitching and a steering wheel covered in perforated leather.
On the other hand, safety has also been improved, and the G70 is equipped with the latest Highway Driving Assist. According to Genesis, this sedan will include a semi-autonomous Level 2 driving system that teams with navigation-based smart cruise control.
Powertrain Specs
For 2022, the Genesis G70 uses the same powertrains as its predecessor. The base model is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine that delivers 252 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. Also, it sends power to the rear wheels via a rev-matching 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
The more powerful and optional is a 3.3-liter V6 that produces 365-horsepower and is backed by 276 lb-ft of torque at only 1,300 rpm. Like the standard one, it also uses an 8-speed automatic transmission. Interestingly, there is no manual transmission on the offer. All-wheel drive (AWD) is optional on all models, providing more stability. Best of all, it does hurt fuel economy significantly.
Is the 2022 Genesis G70 Worth It?
The new luxury 2022 Genesis G70 will be available to purchase in the coming months. Genesis reveals that the 4-cylinder G70 starts at $37,525, plus a destination fee of $1,025. The more equipped Prestige trim, which includes a lots more equipment, begins at $41,425.
However, the Sports Advanced and Sports Prestige trims are the most expensive, starting at $46,400 and $50,400. To keep up with models such as the Audi A4 and BMW 3 Series, the latest Genesis G70 has been refreshed for 2022.
