The upcoming 2022 Ford Fusion Active Wagon has been spied recently and it looks more like a crossover than the wagon. Thanks primarily to this compact design, the new model is ready to take the opponent like Subaru Outback–Style Lifted Wagon. This model continues to be based on the Europe-market Ford Focus wagon and it wears the same design language.
From the information that is available, the new model should arrive sometime in 2021. Moreover, according to Blue Oval, the Fusion sedan could ends production next year.
2022 Ford Fusion Active Wagon First Look
As we mentioned, the new 2022 Ford Fusion Active Wagon is caught testing and we can see a new body style. The same modified body can be found on the latest Ford Focus wagon made for the European market. Its overall proportions and big tires suggest that this model will be larger than the compact crossover Escape.
Many believe that the dimensions of Active Wagon could be around the same size as the mid-size Ford Edge crossover. As we heard, the next Fusion will have a lifted suspension and black plastic body cladding to adhere to that proven, rugged aesthetic.
Cabin Appearance and Techs
Like the Fusion sedan, the new Wagon should provide the same styling inside. Most likely because this is a wagon version, expect more roomy cabin. As you probably know if you are a fan of Fusion models, the cabin looks handsome and roomy on every model.
Besides, Fusion offers a great package of standard equipment. It comes with Sync 3 connectivity and an 8-inch touch screen. Comfort is acceptable and the manufacturer upgraded seat fabric and heated front seats. Most likely, the higher trim levels will include a heated steering wheel, heated and cooled seats, inflatable rear belts, a moonroof, and adaptive cruise control.
2022 Ford Fusion Active Wagon Engine Specs
At this moment, we can only speculate on the possibilities. We know for sure that the new 2022 Ford Fusion Active Wagon will use an all-wheel-drive system as standard. There have also been plenty of rumors that Blue Oval will offer a hybrid and plug-in-hybrid powertrain.
Most likely that those two electrified will be borrowed from the latest compact Escape crossover. If that happens, the Fusion Wagon should use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors. The Fusion Active could also use the same 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbocharged that produces 250-hp. This mill is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission. We cannot wait to see the full Wagon’s performance.
Release Date and Cost
As we mentioned, Blue Oval is preparing to kill Ford sedan later this year. After that, the manufacturer will introduce the all-new 2022 Ford Fusion Active Wagon family car. From what we heard, the upcoming Wagon could debut sometime in 2021 as 2022YM.
Pricing is another mystery. However, some experts indicate that Ford Fusion Active Wagon might starts at $30,000 for the base model, while more equipment models can touch the $40,000 mark. Blue Oval also states that a new generation of the Mondeo Wagon will be available at the same time launching in early 2021. However, this model will be only available for the U.S. market.
