The next generation, 2022 Cadillac XT5, will introduce big changes. First of all, the upcoming model will be built on the new platform, and it should use alongside conventional engines an all-new electric system. According to the manufacturer, there is a plan to release at least 20 electric vehicles by 2024.
The company’s EV model XT5 will be the main rival to Blue Oval`s Mustang-inspired electric crossover and many other models that will be released in the same year. The all-electric XT5 mid-size crossover will be first on the list and it will probably arrive sometime next year as 2022YM.
2022 Cadillac XT5 Platform and Design
The upcoming 2022 Cadillac XT5 form the latest news will gain a new platform that supports the EV system. That means we can expect drastic changes to its body. The XT5 will probably get a more massive gaping grille with crisp and clean lines as we saw on the recently introduced Lyriq model. Moreover, it will be the most likely dimensionally positioner between smaller XT4 and larger XT6.
Overall, the design will be more aggressive for sure, and the goal is to be more noticed on the road. Top of the line Sport XT5 will bring even more attractiveness to this SUV, thanks to the more aggressive design and 20-inch wheels. 2022 Cadillac XT5 Powertrain Options
The forthcoming 2022 Cadillac XT5 will most likely come with three powertrains, and one of them is the new EV. The first two powertrains are also available under the current model. The first engine 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four produces 237 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. This engine is also exclusive on trims Luxury and Premium Luxury.
The next one is standard on Sport trim and optional with Premium Luxury trim. This more potent engine consists of a 3.6-liter V6 that makes 310 horsepower. Moreover, both models will be available with a smooth-shifting 9-speed automatic transmission that powers the front or all four wheels optionally.
EV Version
As we mentioned, the new model will sit on a new platform that is exclusively made to holds up the electric system. From what we heard, this model will be more powerful and efficient than any in XT lines. The company revealed that EV should cover around 300 miles with a single charge. However, we don’t have exact information if this model will use RWD or an AWD system as standard.
2022 Cadillac XT5 Release Date and Price
The release date of 2022 Cadillac XT5 will happen next year. As we already mentioned, the manufacturer has a plan to make 20 electric vehicles by 2024. The first on the list is the next-gen XT5.
The price of this model will vary depending on equipment and battery capacity. From many speculations, the entry-level model will most likely be in the range of $45,000, while high-end versions might cost over $60,000.
