The facelifted version of the 2022 BMW X7 has been spied testing recently, with some drastic cosmetic change. Previously seen on the X8 prototype, the forthcoming X7 will receive almost equal treatment on the front. The new spy shots reveal a test vehicle with a lot of camouflage that hides the large grille adopting the new look and headlight layout.

Interestingly, the headlights of the new BMW X7 are positioned significantly lower on the fascia compared to the current X7. BMW will indeed try to make X7 more aggressive and make its design closer to the X8. On top of that, the new BMW X7 offers three potent engines using a mild-hybrid system.

2022 BMW X7 Redesign

The 2022 BMW X7 is one of the most giant SUVs that you can found on the market. This luxury flagship model has been caught on-road testing recently, wholly wrapped with camo. As we managed to see, the new X7 will retain the current car’s striking front grille that looks bigger, resulting in more sporty styling.

Generally, the most visible change is on the headlights, which have moved lower down the front end. Also, they look better, adopting a more rectangular shape, similar to those on the recently introduced i7 model. The new SUV also features a reshaped lower bumper and the same side air intakes.

Interior Upgrades

At this moment, there are no available images inside the new 2022 BMW X7. Most likely that this SUV will continue with the same seating layout. Generally, we can expect more modern technology and even more premium materials inside.

The current version offers a lavish and arguably handsome cabin, with lots of fine leather. In terms of technology, the X7 is one of the most equipped models in the class. This SUV features a big 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that is highly configurable and Apple car/Android Auto smartphone integration. Also, it comes standard with quad-zone automatic climate control, 12.3-inch infotainment screen, Wi-Fi, wireless smartphone charging, and a 205-watt/10-speaker audio system. The M package is the most favorite and the most expensive option. This package adds 5-zone automatic climate control, massaging/multi-contour front seats, aluminum running boards, rear-wheel steering, and a 1,500-watt/20-speaker surround-sound system from Bowers & Wilkins.

2022 BMW X7 Engine Specs

Like we mentioned, the forthcoming 2022 BMW X7 will feature three engine options. The first one is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-6 that is available with the model xDrive40i. This engine uses a mild-hybrid system that consists of a 48-volt setup that makes 335 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque.

The much more potent powertrain is a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8. This powertrain powers the M50i model, and it generates 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. However, under the Alpina XB7, this engine produces 612 hp and 590 lb-ft of torque. Like before, the same 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters is available in every X7 model. All-wheel drive is standard, and BMW X7 has a maximum towing capacity of 7,500 pounds.

How Much Does the New 2022 BMW X7 Cost?

The entry-level model xDrive40i starts at $74,900, while X7 M50i cost more than $100,000. However, the most powerful and expensive is still the Alpina XB7, starting at $143k.

Moreover, adding more options may push the price to more than $150k. Compared to some class models, the new X7 is more expensive than the Audi Q7, Land Rover Range Rover Sport, and Mercedes-Benz GLS-Class. BMW stated recently that we can expect redesigned model to appears later this year.
