The legendary 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser is coming and it will be more luxurious than ever. This large three-row SUV continues to provide the same sturdily design and a more aggressive approach to the market.
While it’s not luxurious as opulent Lexus LX, the Land Cruiser has been outfitted with a plethora of upscale features. Unfortunately, like the predecessor, the new model will be powered by the same V8 powertrain as the only option. We must add our personal opinion and comment that this engine isn’t particularly special, and it’s undoubtedly not fuel-efficient like the rest models in the same class.
2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Design Is Mostly Unchanged
The upcoming 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser carries over mostly unchanged. Like before, the old-school body-on-frame SUV remains to be attractive and recognized. Most of the changes this time can be found on the Heritage Edition that is returning this year. This model will provide two new exterior colors, including Classic Silver Metallic and Magnetic Gray Metallic alongside old Midnight Black Metallic and Blizzard Pearl.
The design of this model is destructive thanks to more use of chrome elements on the front. Also, all Heritage Edition models come with a specific set of sweet-looking BBS-sourced 18-inch wheels.
Safety
The new 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser comes standard with a bunch of driver-assistance technology. It includes more options than any model in the same class. Basically, the default model comes with forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking system, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot monitoring.
Interior Looks Refreshed
Inside, 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser will host a very luxurious cabin. Generally, the cabin is better and it provides more upscale materials. Most of the updates can be found in the returned Heritage Edition. This model will now be optioned with a third row of seats. Moreover, don’t expect top-rate materials like on Mercedes GLS-class. However, build quality is excellent, and the front row offers comfortable accommodations.
Also, the same story continuous in the second row, while the third row is best for kids. Behind the third row, Toyota Land Cruiser provides 16 cubic feet of cargo space and around 41 cubic feet behind the second.
On top of that, the list of standard equipment is longer and it includes wireless device charging, integrated navigation system with a 9.0-inch touchscreen, 14-speaker JBL sound system.
2021 Toyota Land Cruiser Is Powered by the Same Old V8
From what we heard, the new 2021 Land Cruiser will be powered by the same single-engine option. This model uses a 5.7-liter V8 that produces 381-horsepower. Also, the powertrain comes with 8-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to this engine, Land Cruiser can tow up to 8,100 pounds. However, if you are looking model that can haul and pull more, the Ford Expedition is the answer. This SUV can tow up to 9,300 pounds.
If you didn’t know, Land Cruiser is one of the most off-road-capable vehicles on the market. Fuel economy is not so acceptable with 14 mpg combined, and it has a 24.6-gallon fuel tank. Full-time four-wheel drive is standard this time.
Release Date and Cost
The debut of the fresh 2021 Toyota Land Cruiser SUV will happen next year. Due to the Covid-19 outbreak, the manufacturer has been delayed its release. Interestingly, Land Cruiser is closely related to the Lexus LX 570, and it’s more affordable. Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of the base model starts at $86,640, including a $1,325 destination charge. Toyota’s most expensive model Limited-edition Heritage Edition is starting higher at $88,970.
