The new 2021 Subaru Forester is announced, and it should arrive next year. According to Subaru, the sixth-generation model will introduce plenty of upgrades, including a more stylish exterior and a richer package of standard equipment.

Also, like the current model, the new one will deploy the same powerful powertrain and more driving engagement. This SUV comes with a 2.5-liter engine that produces 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. The Forester’s key rivals Honda CR-V and the Toyota RAV4, offer more power, but the Subaru’s smooth ride and relaxed handling could not be matched.

Interestingly, the manufacturer used this time modified lower-body cladding to protect against mud, rocks, and salt.

Roof rails come standard on all trims except the base model. Sport trim is also available, and it features a gloss-black exterior trim, orange accents on the black and roof-rail mounts.

Depending on trim, the new model in Sport, Limited and Touring variants features CVT manual mode that simulates a 7-speed automatic transmission via shift paddles. According to Subaru, the latest Forester has two driving modes. The first one is Intelligent for a smoother experience, and the second one is Sport for sharper responses. The EPA estimates a combined fuel economy (city and highway) of 29 mpg.
