The forthcoming 2021 Mazda 6 is ready to conquer the sedan segment later this month. Interestingly, the new model is getting a few essential updates, including a more attractive look, slightly more torque, and better techs.
The highlight this year is definitively the new Carbon Edition model that will get appearance tweaks. According to Mazda, all models will be available to purchase later this year, with a slightly higher price than before.
What’s New on the 2021 Mazda 6?
The latest 2021 Mazda 6 will feature some small refreshed compared to the current model. Generally, this model will introduce some new features and an appearance package called the Carbon Edition. This model will inherit all the equipment of the Grand Touring Reserve trim.
Also, it comes with a more attractive look than the regular one. It wears a new Polymetal Gray paint color that giving it a sportier look. Interestingly, the manufacturer used some of the black exterior accents and a new set of dark 19-inch wheels. The same treatment is used on the new CX-9 model.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The cabin of the new 2021 Mazda 6 looks much pricier than it is. Everything inside looks premium, and the quality of the materials impresses. This model also has a spacious cabin with enough room for five passengers. Surprisingly for this type of a sedan is that it is no less practical than the other mid-size in the same segment. According to Mazda, cargo capacity is increased, and now there is a room for six carry-on bags we fit in the trunk and the 17 we fit with the rear seats folded. The theme inside is stylish with black trim pieces and red leather upholstery with gray stitching.
In terms of techs, every model includes a new infotainment system that is connectivity supported with features such as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless CarPlay software is standard on the Grand Touring model.
Mazda’s suite of active safety features this year includes forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring and rear-cross-traffic alert standardly, and lane-departure warning and lane-keeping assist.
2021 Mazda 6 Powertrain Specs
The latest 2021 Mazda 6 shouldn’t get any changes under the hood. Moreover, the base model will be powered with the same naturally aspirated 2.5-liter engine. However, the optional one turbocharged 2.5-liter inline-four will get some mechanical changes.
This unit now provides an extra 10 lb-ft of torque, which means a total of 320. It comes with the same reliable six-speed automatic transmission as the only option. If you remember, Mazda manufacturer last year promised a diesel engine and an all-wheel-drive system as standard. However, it seems that plan has been changed obviously.
Release Date and Price
The new 2021 Mazda 6 will mostly come unchanged. Generally, the manufacturer focused on the new Carbon Edition that introduces appearance tweak over the regular model. This sedan features a unique Polymetal Gray color and some black accents. Mazda 6 Carbon Edition sits just below the top Signature trim, and it costs around $33,745. Pricing for the base model starts slightly higher than before, at $25,720. Moreover, Turbo models begin with the $30,970 Grand Touring.
