For 2021, Kia will redesign its popular model Sportage. The new compact SUV 2021 Kia Sportage will finally receive some small updates. Generally, this model is very important for Kia, and even small updates are welcome.

Design is attractive thanks to Peter Schreyer, who worked on the original Audi TT. From an ordinary SUV, this model has been evolved into a luxury model. However, some good things are better to leave as it is, and Sportage deploys the same powertrains as the predecessor.

2021 Kia Sportage Design Updates

Thanks to the high-achieving head designer, the forthcoming 2021 Kia Sportage looks more attractive than before. Generally, this SUV offers more smooth surfaces and sharper edges. The base LX trim features 17-inch alloy wheels, while the range-topping SX Turbo model rolls on 19-inch alloy wheels.

Basically, the biggest news this year is Nightfall Edition and Nightfall Edition Premium packages. Both will feature piano-black exterior accents, panoramic sunroof, special-design dark gray 18-inch alloy wheels with black centers, and a Sportage badge that stretches across the tailgate.

Interior Provides More Comfort

The cabin of the new 2021 Kia Sportage is very stylish and supportive. Unlike the previous model, the manufacturer used comfortable seats with 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat. As you probably know, this SUV offers two rows of seats with plenty of room for five passengers. The roomy rear seats provide plenty of space to stretch out while the headroom is acceptable. However, adding an optional panoramic sunroof will take a headroom hit.

In terms of techs, the entry-level LX trim comes with an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Bluetooth, 6-speaker/160-watt audio system, and cloth upholstery.

Safety Details

Safety on 2021 Kia Sportage is one of the best. This model includes forward-collision mitigation with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assistance, and automatic high beams.

2021 Kia Sportage Powertrain Specs

As we already said, the forthcoming 2021 Sportage will keep the same powertrains from the predecessor. All models except the SX Turbo will use the naturally aspirated 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine capable of producing 181 horsepower. As you can see, the output is pretty much average, compared to other models in the same class.

The next engine comes exclusively with SX Turbo trim, and it consists of a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. Thanks to this powertrain, Turbo generates an impressive 240 horsepower. A 6-speed automatic transmission is available on both models. Moreover, all-wheel drive (AWD) is still on the options list. Like before, Sportage can tow a maximum of 2,000 pounds.

Release Date and Price

The release date of 2021 Kia Sportage will probably happen later this year. However, due to Coronavirus, it is not excluded that the manufacturer delayed it for next year.

Besides, pricing is revealed, and the LX model starts at $25,110, while the S trim costs $27,610. EX is priced from $28,410, and the Technology package costs $4,560. The most expensive is the SX Turbo that goes up to $34,770. Competitors that we found in the same class and price range are Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue, and Toyota RAV4.
