Base L and LX trims are using a new 1.6-liter 4-cylinder hybrid that makes a total system output of 226 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. From the latest information, the new Sorento can maximum tow between 2,000 and 5,000 pounds, depending on engine and drive configuration. Kia also said it would later add a plug-in hybrid version as well as a diesel powertrain.
