Spacious, compatible, and nicely equipped are the features that describe the new mid-size SUV 2021 Honda Passport. According to Honda, the upcoming model is sharing many of its mechanicals with the three-row Honda Pilot and Ridgeline pickup.

Generally, the new Passport is fully modern, with plenty of standard safety equipment and optional amenities. In addition, it gives more options than competitors like Hyundai Santa Fe or Kia Sorento. However, powertrain coverage doesn’t match the levels of both rivals.

The new 2021 Honda Passport comes with the same ruggedness as the Pilot model. Basically, this SUV is based on the Pilot platform, offering smaller dimensions and better shape.

Compared these two models, the Passport is six inches shorter, but it is wider and taller. Thanks to that, the Passport gets a more substantial look. Moreover, other major differences include a steeper back-window angle and all the exterior sheet metal is different. The standard 20-inch wheels and more aggressive body design definitely separates this model from the famous Honda Pilot.

Interior Changes

Stepping inside the new 2021 Honda Passport, you’ll instantly realize that this model has almost the same cabin as the Pilot and Ridgeline models. Generally, the design is unique, and the front seats are wide and comfortable. We like a new handy armrest, that is giving extra comfort. The back seats are also comfy, and the new Passport can transport up to five people.

Basically, you’ll find behind 41 cubic feet of storage, which held around 15 suitcases. One can also fold the rear row and unlocks 78 cubes of room. In terms of techs, the base model will be equipped with the same 5.0-inch infotainment system, while every other model has an 8.0-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration as various power points are available as well.

2021 Honda Passport Powertrain Specs

Under the hood of 2021 Honda Passport is the same 3.5-liter V-6 engine that produces 280 horsepower. This engine uses the same nine-speed automatic transmission that can be also found in the Pilot. It also comes with front-wheel drive as standard. Those who want the all-wheel-drive system can get it for the extra coin. As for off-roading, this SUV comes with 7.5 inches of ground clearance or 8.1 inches for all-wheel-drive models.

As you can assume, this model might provide a rough ride when it does venture off-road. Besides, thanks to the potent engine, Passport can tow up to 5000 pounds. With a front-drive system, this model has a 20 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. However, equipped with an all-wheel drive, it delivers a little worse efficiency of 19 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Release Date and Price

If one needs a spacious and powerful SUV, the forthcoming 2021 Honda Passport is the right choice. Besides, this model offers an attractive exterior design, followed by an even better cabin. From what we dig, the upcoming model will cost some extra money compared to the current one. It will start at $33,000 for the base model, while the upper trims can reach $50,000.
