The all-new 2021 Ford Maverick is officially confirmed by the recently leaked photo of its tailgate. This model will make a comeback as a pickup truck. If you remember, this model was very popular in the 1970s as a sleek coupe.
According to the Blue Ovals company, the Maverick will be released globally at the beginning of next year. A source close to Ford confirmed that the brand new model would sit on the unibody platform that also underpinnings the Ford Bronco Sport model.
2021 Ford Maverick Exterior Structuring
Looking at the new 2021 Ford Maverick, we can see plenty of similarities with the recently revealed Ford Bronco Sport SUV. Firstly that we noticed is a large MAVERICK lettering stamped right in the middle of grille and tailgate. We can undoubtedly say that this pickup truck is literary-based on the SUV model.
As we mentioned at the beginning, the Maverick pickup truck underpinnings the same unibody platform as Bronco. For that reason, we can notice plenty of similarities. The front of this pickup dominates with the all-new Bronco grille and beautiful round LED headlights. Moreover, Maverick will be a reliable off-roader and we can assume a great package of off-road equipment.
The cabin design of 2021 Ford Maverick is still a mystery. However, from what we heard, this model will share plenty of cues from the Escape model. That means we can expect a great designed cabin that provides comfort on a long trip.
Ford will deliver a recognizable floating screen with the same dials and plenty of upscale materials inside. The layout inside will be celebrated through two rows of seats. Like the Ford Ranger model, the new Maverick pickup can accommodate five occupants. However, don’t expect the same premium look that Ford Ranger provides. Maverick is a pickup truck, that will offer a practical cabin with less high-tech amenities.
2021 Ford Maverick Powertrain
The all-new 2021 Ford Maverick is a compact pickup truck that will borrow Bronco Sport SUV engines. This includes two powertrain options and the same mechanics.
The first powertrain consists of a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder that produces181-hp. However, if you are seeking a more powerful engine, optional is the right choice. This model uses potent 2.0-liter powertrain that can produce up to 250 horsepower. Both Maverick models will use an eight-speed automatic transmission as the only option. Whatever besides these two engines, there is a huge possibility that the manufacturer later introduces a hybrid variant. If this happens, we are hoping for the same setup as in the Escape Hybrid crossover.
Price and Release Date
Blue Ovals’ newest pickup truck 2021 Ford Maverick will host identical design as the Bronco Sport model. Generally, Maverick will be powered by the same engines as recently revealed SUV. Most likely, it will reach the dealerships at the end of this year or at some point during 2021.
Interestingly, sales will firstly start in South America and after that in U.S. From what we heard, the upcoming Ford Maverick will be a very affordable pickup that will begin at $20,000. Obviously, Blue Ovals’ goal is to offer a smaller alternative and make it concurrent as the mid-size Ford Ranger pickup.
