Finally, the facelifted 2021 Ford Explorer is coming. According to the latest images, the upcoming Explorer is looking better than ever. The new SUV will be refreshed and it should introduce more improvements than the predecessor.

As you probably know, Blue Ovals’ flagship model Explorer is a mid-size SUV that comes with three rows of seats and it provides great room for hauling cargo. It also offers a choice of two engines, and one of them is using a hybrid system.

Also, the manufacturer offers a bigger 10.1-inch vertically oriented screen optionally or standardly choosing the Platinum or ST models. Besides, every model comes with voice-activated navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system, and 12-speaker B&O audio.

2021 Ford Explorer Powertrain

The new 2021 Ford Explorer is offered in few trims. Base, XLT, and Limited models will use a 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 300-hp turbocharged. However, jumping to the Platinum model, buyers will get a stronger twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V-6 delivering 365-hp. Also, the same engine can be found under the sporty Explorer ST, which produces 400-hp.

A hybrid system is also available and it consists of a 3.3-liter V-6 engine with an electric motor. Combined, this system delivers an output of 318 horsepower. The Explorer rides on an all-new rear-wheel-drive platform, while all-wheel drive is still optional. All engines use the same 10-speed automatic transmission across trims. When properly equipped, the latest Explorer can tow up to 5600 pounds, which is acceptable for such type of SUV.

2021 Ford Explorer Release Date and Price

The redesigned 2021 Ford Explorer will be more attractive than before. Generally, Explorer is one of the most selling in its class. From what we heard, the base model that brings more features should keep the same pricing of $34,000.

However, jumping to XLT price will rise to $38,000, or $50,000 for the Limited trim. The most expensive models are Limited hybrid starting ar $54,000, Sporty ST $56,000, and Platinum that reach $60,000.
